Jill Halfpenny teases “gruesome” ending to new Channel 5 thriller: “I didn’t predict how it would end”
Jill Halfpenny has teased a “gruesome” ending to her new Channel 5 thriller The Feud.
The six-episode series focuses on the residents of a picturesque suburban neighborhood, as hidden stresses emerge once Emma and John, portrayed by Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones from “Spooks,” reveal their intentions to expand their home with an addition.
In the unfolding narrative, I find myself faced with growing concerns about the proposed plans. However, what unfolds next is nothing short of astonishing – hidden bones and perilous secrets, long buried, start to resurface, adding a thrilling layer of mystery to the mix.
What to Read Next
Threatening undertones pervade the narrative of ‘The Feud‘, as Emma’s pursuit of ambition morphs into an all-consuming obsession, suspicion, and terror.
Before the unveiling of “The Feud” last night, Halfpenny hinted at an abundance of drama yet to unfold across the next five episodes and a particularly grim conclusion.
Or:
Prior to last night’s debut of “The Feud”, Halfpenny foreshadowed that there would be lots of drama in the final five episodes, culminating in a rather disturbing finale.
She mentioned that she hadn’t anticipated the outcome, saying, “I didn’t foresee how grim things would become. It started off appearing so ordinary within our homes, but I could never have guessed it would escalate to such a disturbing extent.
Moving forward, Halfpenny pointed out: “Everyone seems to be hiding their true actions and emotions, creating quite a suspenseful narrative for our viewing pleasure.
My character Emma, despite her strong sense of honesty, occasionally tells untruths. This is a situation many of us can understand – much like the experience of belonging to a WhatsApp group or observing neighbors making home improvements.
“But, where The Feud takes us is the stuff of nightmares.”
The Feud features Larry Lamb playing the role of Emma’s cunning father Terry, Chris Gascoyne from Coronation Street portraying an intimidating builder named Lee, and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell from Derry Girls taking on the character of police officer PC Gallagher.
In this production, James Fleet from “The Vicar of Dibley” and Tessa Peake-Jones known for “Only Fools and Horses” portray an older couple named Derek and Barbara. Additionally, Amy Nuttall from “Downton Abbey” and Ray Fearon, who was in “Fleabag,” complete the cast as characters Sonia and Alan, who are neighbors.
The Feud airs on Channel 5.
