Walton Goggins Defends SNL’s ‘Mean’ Aimee Lou Wood Sketch Amid Rumored Feud
Over the weekend, it was a Saturday Night Live skit that drew unexpected support for The White Lotus actor Aimee Lou Wood – and the defense came from one of her fellow cast members.
On Sunday, Walton Goggins, who shares the screen with Wood, posted on his Instagram Stories (before deletion) about a comic sketch starring Sarah Sherman imitating a British actress, using oversized fake teeth for a humorous touch.
53-year-old Goggins enthusiastically declared that the sketch was an outstanding triumph, and he also sent a shout-out to Jon Hamm, who portrayed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. within the sketch.
In a message, he expressed that he felt out of place, saying, “John, I realized I was not suited for this role.” He penned this note to the Mad Men star, who subtly infused the vaccine-hesitant politician with traits similar to his White Lotus character Rick.
According to Page Six, Goggins even left a comment on the official SNL Instagram account, saying “Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg.
I, a die-hard fan, can’t help but share my astonishment over my idol’s surprising response to the offensive sketch that allegedly upset his costar. This unexpected display of emotion follows whispers within our tight-knit fan community suggesting tension between him and Wood, fueling speculation about a potential feud.

Fans have noted that the actor from “Justified” who used to lavishly compliment his co-star, suddenly stopped doing so, and this change occurred around the time when the third season of “White Lotus” was about to conclude.
After that point, fans have become aware that these two celebrities no longer follow one another on Instagram. Moreover, Goggins seems to have tagged multiple cast members in backstage images he uploaded from the show – with the exception of Wood, who appeared alongside him in numerous scenes.
Even though Aimee seems not to be following Walton’s personal account, she does keep tabs on his Google Glasses page instead.
On Reddit, users found it puzzling as to why Goggins and Wood hadn’t connected on social media, with someone expressing curiosity, “It seems like nobody’s addressing their apparent rift?
A few weeks back, they stopped following each other on Instagram. Walton has been sharing content related to White Lotus and tags everyone in his photos except Aimee Lou Wood. He even dedicated an entire post to White Lotus but failed to mention Aimee. Interestingly, he’s been posting numerous images of her in a tribute to the show on his story. So, one might wonder if there’s some tension between them?
The user commented, ‘Previously, they seemed to greatly admire each other and speak highly of one another during interviews. Now, it’s strange to see such a change in their dynamic.’
A different user expressed surprise by saying: ‘Aimee Lou Wood follows 5,160 people on Instagram, but there isn’t a single one who is Walton Goggins…’
On X, one viewer weighed in on an album of behind-the-scenes photos Walton had posted to Instagram.

‘Walton Goggins not tagging Aimee but tagging everyone else… WHAT HAPPENED,’ they wrote.
What left many fans puzzled was the seemingly heartfelt and detailed series of photos that Walton shared on his Instagram Stories, depicting him with Aimee.
One user expressed amazement, stating they were deeply captivated by Walton Goggins’ 18-slide Instagram story featuring pictures of him and Aimee Lou Wood, accompanied by the song ‘Silver Springs’ by Fleetwood Mac.
Many people found it surprising, too, by the continuous stream of posts featuring images of the two actors that lasted quite some time.
But music critic Carl Wilson offered a more measured take.
In simpler terms, he expressed that everyone analyzing the relationships between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood here seems unaware that actors often display intense emotions for a role, but once they move on to new projects, they typically don’t maintain close contact with each other.
Since 2011, Walton has been in matrimony with filmmaker Nadia Conners. Tragically, his former spouse, Leanne Goggins, took her own life in 2004.
It seems the actor’s compliments for the SNL sketch came at an awkward moment, given that the well-known comedy show is said to have apologized to Wood following her criticism of a supposedly unkind sketch that made fun of her teeth.

On Sunday evening, the lead actor from The White Lotus expressed a series of messages criticizing the satirical program, following Sarah Sherman’s portrayal that involved oversized false teeth, significantly larger than her own.
In reaction to the mockery she faced during the TV program, the 31-year-old actress from Sex Education, posted a message on her Instagram Stories to criticize Saturday Night Live and clarify speculations regarding HBO.
Following the actress becoming a web sensation due to her critique of the “rude and humorless” sketch, she asserted that Saturday Night Live (SNL) attempted to reconcile by offering an olive branch.
As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but share this slightly exaggerated selfie, enlarging my own eyes and grin to express my excitement. And yes, you heard it right! The long-awaited apology from SNL has finally come my way!
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share my thoughts about a captivating artwork titled “The White Potus.” This masterpiece paints a vivid picture of the Trump family and influential political figures enjoying a well-deserved getaway at a renowned vacation spot. It’s as if I’ve been given a peek into their private world, making it all the more intriguing!
In the revised portrayal, the character Rick, originally played by Walton Goggins, has been transformed into Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was depicted delivering an impassioned speech advocating for the removal of fluoride from the water supply.
The scene switched to Chelsea, portrayed by Sarah, with overly prominent front teeth. She blurted out, “What’s fluoride?” in a dramatic manner.
In reply, Aimee countered the jest about the cost, remarking: ‘It’s unfortunate because I truly enjoyed it just a couple of weeks ago. Yes, you can certainly make fun of it – that’s what the show is for – but couldn’t there be a more intelligent, subtler, less crude way?’

Apart from this, she too passed on encouraging words from her fans and her sibling Emily, acknowledging that she had been inundated with ‘countless’ messages expressing their support for her.
Aimee added: ‘Let me wrap up this topic. I don’t get easily offended. In fact, I appreciate humor when it’s smart and fun-spirited. However, the jest was regarding fluoride. My teeth are spaced, not decayed.’
As a die-hard fan, I get the whole caricature thing with SNL, it’s their schtick. However, the remainder of that sketch felt like they were taking aim higher, and unfortunately, it seemed like only Chelsea was on the receiving end. That’s not my idea of fair humor. End of story.
In summary, she expressed agreement with a fan’s observation that the comedy skit was clever and amusing until it abruptly transformed into a form of misogyny from the 1970s. This sentiment aligns with her own perspective.
Previously, Aimee openly expressed her feelings about the subject, saying to her audience: “In all honesty, I found the SNL sketch offensive and not humorous.
After observing that she felt ‘self-righteous’ yet might erase her post at a later time, supporters urged her to keep it up.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some insight: “I chose not to erase one particular comment. It was harsh and lacked humor. Instead of giving it voice, I prefer to deprive it of its power by letting it pass without reaction.
1. “In every aspect, you’re extraordinary, and despite having a gap between my front teeth and an overbite, your genuine kindness has significantly boosted my self-confidence.”
2. “You’re exceptional in all ways, and even with my slight dental imperfections, your authentic positivity has made me feel incredibly more comfortable with myself.”
3. “You are amazing on every level, and although I have a gap between my teeth and an overbite, you’ve genuinely made me feel much better about who I am.”
4. “Your extraordinary nature shines through in every aspect, and despite my minor dental flaws, your genuine kindness has made a significant impact on my self-perception.”

They realized that instead of investing thousands in fixing everything, they were choosing to focus on their own appearance since they found you so attractive. In essence, they decided to apply the same reasoning to themselves.
A different user pointed out that all the other characters in the satire were political figures being lampooned. In simpler terms, they were making fun of well-known politicians.
In a setting where everyone else appeared politically inclined, Chelsea stood out as the one who seemed detached from politics. However, their actions of mocking your physical characteristics or accent came across as insensitive and inappropriate, which is quite disrespectful.
Earlier, she clarified that ‘nobody at HBO called’ her ‘ugly.’
She clarified that the idea was her own interpretation, stemming from a misunderstanding in a recent interview.
The star went on to explain, ‘It’s important to note that no one at HBO would express it this way. What I intended in my article was to highlight how our minds can deceive us. So, I encourage you to take a moment and review the piece before jumping to any conclusions.’
To wrap up today’s discussion, let me say this: HBO is kind, considerate, and has never wronged me, so please do not criticize them. As for NBCSNL, they can be quite harsh.
TopMob has contacted NBC for comment.

During an interview with British GQ, Aimee shared that it was challenging for White Lotus creator, Mike White, to secure her role, a situation which left her feeling uncertain about her abilities.
She continued: ‘When someone (not a producer) told me Mike fought for me it was said in a nice way.
I’ve been overwhelmed by self-doubt, or what is often referred to as impostor syndrome, regarding the topic at hand. I simply wanted to make it clear that HBO has always been extremely supportive.
In the GQ piece, Aimee openly discussed her self-doubt, admitting, “In my mind, I think, ‘HBO didn’t choose me. I know why they didn’t pick me – it’s because I’m unattractive.’
Mike found himself needing to ask, “Could I please get the unattractive young woman?” She went on, explaining what was going through her mind at the time.
Or
Mike needed to say something along the lines of, “Give me the plain girl, please.” She clarified that this thought had been in her head.
In another part of the interview, Aimee shared her fascination with her inherent overbite and gap between her front teeth, which she felt might be drawing too much focus away from her act.
She was concerned that her teeth, as viewed by some White Lotus spectators, might be perceived as ‘quirky’ or ‘unusual,’ a feature she has not yet addressed or corrected.
She expressed joy over its representation of defiance and liberty, but acknowledged there’s a point where it should stop.

The discussion seems entirely focused on my dental issues, which leaves me feeling somewhat melancholic as I’d prefer discussing my professional endeavors instead.
She mentioned that people find it appealing as they’re not offering criticism about her smile. Then, she paused to reflect and hinted that the entire conversation could possibly be connected to the issue of sexism.
She mentioned, “I need to go to that place… I’m not sure if the person was a man for us to discuss it so extensively. We’re still focusing on the woman’s looks,” she continued.
Aimee is receiving appreciation online because she chooses to keep her naturally protruding front teeth rather than conforming to the cosmetic ideals of the entertainment industry in Hollywood.
On a recent visit to The Jonathan Ross Show, I found myself quite astonished by the reaction my smile was receiving. It seems that my pearly whites have left quite an impression on the American audience – a fact that continues to astound me daily!
In a somewhat defiant manner, it seems people who enjoy White Lotus are discussing my unaltered teeth and lack of Botox, which gives me a sense of rebellion.
