Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kids Bullied for Surprising Reason That Will Break Your Heart
Sophie Ellis-Bextor has shared that her kids are experiencing bullying at school for a deeply unfortunate cause.
46-year-old songstress from “Murder On The Dancefloor” reveals she has five kids: Sonny (19), Kit (14), Ray (11), Jesse (7), and Mickey (4) – all shared with her spouse, Richard Jones.
She’s confessed that her young kids, who have red hair, are being teased because they don’t fit in with the other students’ appearances at school.
She shared with Andreas Wild during their Salon Confidential podcast that they have indeed faced bullying, a rather tough ordeal.
Upon entering secondary school, any distinctive trait or characteristic you possess may become the subject of teasing.
At your age, it’s fascinating to see such a strong urge to fit in, to belong with the crowd. This instinct seems remarkably powerful.

Instead of allowing it to bring you down, I hope that through discussions, you’ll be able to monitor it closely and ensure it stays in a positive direction.
She commented: “As you grow a bit older, you start realizing, ‘In fact, the aspects of me that make me unique are the ones I’ll now allow room for, nurture, and appreciate for my own joy’.
My children sport various hues of red, yet their vibrancy is stunning, making them effortlessly identifiable at any playground.
Recently, Sophie has been admired by fans after she humorously poked fun at the elaborate morning rituals of influencers in a TikTok video posted on Monday.
Over the past few months, social media personalities have gained popularity by sharing their extraordinary wake-up times, which are often before 4 am.
Some habits included plunging into icy-cold water for a dip, sleeping with a mouth guard, and performing physical activities before the sun had risen.
She poked fun at some of the shocking routines she has come across on her social media.
She captioned her post: ‘I’ve been up for hours.. what about you? #morningroutine’

Some spectators erupted in laughter upon viewing Sophie’s humorous parody, commenting: “Many folks in the comments seem to be missing the reference or the humor, but this was simply brilliant!
For those who didn’t realize it was a satirical reply to an influencer’s unusual morning ritual: He wakes up extremely early, labels everything meticulously, and appears to accomplish very little before beginning his day around noon.
‘Brilliant!! You forgot to rub your face with a banana skin though’,
‘You do make me giggle’,
‘Love this take on the viral video…’
In January, Sophie responded for the first time following comments from BBC One viewers who described her New Year’s Eve performance as a “discomforting and breathless chaos.
2025 saw the chart-topper launching the year with a delightful mix of successful singles, featuring collaborations with Jessie Ware, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, and The Last Dinner Party.
Some spectators hailed her performance as “top-notch” and a “pure delight,” while others criticized it as “awkward” and likened it to a “karaoke session.

In response to the criticism, Sophie posted a series of positive reviews about her New Year’s Eve Disco on her Instagram story instead.
Apart from that, she shared an array of breathtaking photos on her profile from the enjoyable event, which was prerecorded. Notably, she had a live performance during the New Year’s Eve festivities in Times Square, New York.
She expressed her great pride and joy in having hosted a New Year’s Eve disco on BBC 1, stating what an incredible honor it was for her – aware that New Year’s Eve holds a unique charm.
I want to extend a massive thank you to my amazing guests, @jessieware, @jakeshears, and @emilyrobertsguitarist! They truly transformed the event into an unforgettable party. It was such a pleasure to share the stage with them. A special shoutout to @victoriajayneadcock for her exceptional styling efforts. We had so much fun brainstorming ideas, and Victoria exceeded all expectations by making our visions come alive. Lastly, thank you @lisalaudat1 for my stunning hair and makeup. It was a fantastic night filled with fun! Xx
Sophie went on to say, “For years, I’ve welcomed the New Year while watching the BBC with Big Ben chiming. So, having our band perform to welcome 2025 feels like the greatest honor imaginable, sharing it with everyone who tuned in.
If you were in that situation, I want to express my gratitude to you ❤️ Xxx Now, if you’re interested, you can catch it on @bbciplayer! ✨ A big shoutout goes to the fantastic team at @bbcstudios for bringing the show to life and providing us with a captivating world to work in. Thank you so much!
I thoroughly enjoyed the stage setup and the lighting – Director Liz Clare did an outstanding job, and the entire team was incredibly supportive and enthusiastic. This positive energy was contagious, making our excitement grow even more. Overall, it’s been a truly unique and memorable experience for me.
