The Future Is Cozy at Unform Studio’s Space Age-Inspired Installation in Milan

At Milan Design Week 2025, the Pennsylvania-based furniture design studio Unform Studio showcased their debut lighting collection and accompanying furniture line at Salone del Mobile’s SaloneSatellite exhibition. According to Unform Studio, the theme for this innovative product launch is “A Different Kind of Future“, which envisions designs from a future that was once predicted but never came to pass, by embracing an optimistic Space Age aesthetic.

The Orbit Collection includes the un14 Orbit Chair and the un15 Orbit Table. This assortment harmoniously blends organic materials, such as wood and rounded shapes, with polished chrome accents. The wooden table showcases distinctive walnut grain, shades of tan and brown, while the serene blue cushioning echoes natural elements like water and forests. The fusion of soft forms and retro-futuristic metalwork gives these contemporary designs an organic feel. The studio explained that these pieces symbolize a future that appreciates human warmth and the authenticity of materials, valuing both form and origin.

For the initial foray into lighting design by the brand, the Axis assortment showcases three distinct pieces: the form3 Axis Suspension Light, the form4 Axis Wall Sconce, and the form2 Axis Floor Lamp. These designs echo the sleek chrome accents prevalent in their furniture line, with the lighting pieces emphasizing polished steel for a striking visual impact. The design concept is monolithic, focusing on the polished metal to create an effect that’s both dramatic and refined. Each piece features a uniform design centered around a glowing core, fostering a soft, atmospheric ambiance that harmonizes with the Orbit collection. Notably, the pendant lights offer versatility, available in various sizes, adjustable for different hanging orientations, and capable of being hung in multiples.

Established in 2022 by designer Ryan Twardzik, Unform Studio showcased its Pennsylvania-made designs at Milan Design Week for the first time last year. Coming up this spring, Unform Studio will unveil its North American debut, exhibiting new collections in New York at WANTED on May 18-20.
