Francesca Gardiner, our showrunner and executive producer, along with Mark Mylod, who directed several episodes and also serves as an executive producer, are thrilled to have such exceptional talent joining us. They can’t wait to witness this gifted team breathe new life into these cherished characters,” said the duo.
The announcement of the series initially sparked disagreement among fans due to the ongoing debate about JK Rowling, the author of the “Harry Potter” novels.
Over the past few years, Rowling has encountered frequent criticisms regarding her opinions about transgender individuals and their rights. Some of her statements have been labeled as transphobic by numerous people, a claim she refutes.
Responding to the backlash to Rowling and the upcoming series, WB issued a statement.
They expressed their joy in retelling the enchanting tale of Harry Potter once more – a story that embodies the strength of friendship, determination, and acceptance. In a communique to Variety, they acknowledged J.K. Rowling’s freedom to voice her personal opinions.
Our commitment stays on the progress of the upcoming series. Her participation can undeniably enhance its quality.
