Charli XCX Sparks Backlash with ‘Miss Should Be Headliner’ Sash at Coachella Afterparty

At the Coachella afterparty on Saturday, Charli XCX faced criticism when she donned a sash that read ‘Miss Should Be Headliner.’

After performing at 7:15 pm on the Coachella stage, the 32-year-old singer continued the festivities following her showcase where she presented ‘Brat’.

However, while dancing the night through near the DJ booth, Charli caught attention with her striking accessory, causing some to speculate that she might be overstepping her bounds.

As Charlotte Aitchison, also known as Charli, performed on the mainstage, it was Green Day, a group with 96 wins and 218 nominations, who took the headlining spot.

It turned out that her decision caused some discomfort, as she emphasized her point by taking a photo while dressed in a revealing white gown.

Following the snapshot where she playfully stuck out her tongue and flaunted her sash, music enthusiasts found themselves in an excited uproar.

Speaking about X, previously recognized as Twitter, the singer expressed: ‘One “summer” album and these ladies are behaving as if they’re more important than everybody else.’

Although Charli has enjoyed some personal song triumphs during the past couple of years, Green Day has been more victorious when it comes to their total album achievements.

Green Day boasts an impressive music career, with five of their albums reaching number one in the UK, ten more making it into the top ten, and a total of seventeen albums charting within the top forty. Their songs have managed to stay on the UK charts for close to 500 weeks, as reported by the Official Charts Company.

Compared to others, Charlie has managed to secure two UK number one albums, placed two more in the top 10, and notched up six entries in the top 40. Furthermore, her music has remained popular for a total of 56 weeks within the top 75 chart positions.

On Saturday, the Von Dutch artist teamed up with Billie for a live premiere of their Guess remix, which originated from her 2024 chart-topping album titled “Brat.

Lorde also surprised the crowd when she joined Charli for Girl, So Confusing and Troye Talk Talk.

Following our collaboration with Lorde, who recently teased her first single release since 2021, Charli exclaimed excitedly: “Lorde’s summer of 2025!

Actor Timothée Chalamet, known for his work in Hollywood, was one of the high-profile individuals seen watching Charli perform live. Meanwhile, model Alex Consani joined the trending Apple dance challenge.
