Jamaican reggae legend Max Romeo has died aged 80.
Max, well-known for the BBC-prohibited chart-topper, sadly died due to heart issues in his native country.
On Instagram, it was officially announced on Saturday that our dearly cherished Max had sadly passed away.
‘We appreciate all the heartfelt expressions of love and appreciation immensely, but we kindly request some privacy right now. Rest assured, legends live on in our hearts and memories.’
Touching tributes poured in for the ‘great reggae icon’ as the sad news was announced.
‘Our music lives on forever, thank you for the large amount of music. My sincere sympathies to your family and friends.’

Oh, such a sorrowful piece of news. Farewell, dear friend. Your music remains a source of inspiration and joy for many. I pray the Almighty grants you peace, with His angels watching over you as you rest. Until we meet again in another realm, my musical comrade.
Oh, the sad news about Max, the remarkable reggae legend, leaves me heartbroken. We conversed not long ago, on March 28th. It’s unbearable that such a talented individual is no longer with us. He will be deeply missed and eternally cherished. Rest In Peace, Max. May Jah be with you always.
