Katy Perry has shared insights on the mental preparations she’s making for her female-led Blue Origin space voyage.

40-year-old music producer, fresh from a forward-thinking performance, has found motivation in believing she will inspire people, immersing herself in astronomy literature, and tapping into her “divine femininity” before embarking on a space travel adventure.

On Monday, the star will join an extraordinary space voyage, accompanied by Jeff Bezos’ partner, Lauren Sanchez, renowned journalist Gayle King, and three additional women. This flight is planned as the first all-female space journey since 1963.

On a Wednesday rehearsal day at her studio in Ontario, California, Perry chatted with The Associated Press. This conversation took place just a few days prior to her departure for training sessions in Texas.

She expressed: “Every day, I speak to myself, encouragingly saying, ‘You’re courageous, you’re daring, you’re taking this on for the generations to come, inspiring countless individuals, particularly young girls, to dream of journeying into space someday. There are no boundaries.’

Additionally, the artist known for her roaring tunes mentioned that she’s been mentally gearing up for her space voyage by delving into the works of Carl Sagan and other scientists.

Katy shared her enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled about the entire engineering aspect. I can’t wait to delve deeper into STEM subjects, and I’m particularly intrigued by the mathematics involved in achieving something like this.

Instead of saying “She went on to say,” you could use phrases like “She continued by explaining” or “She added by saying.”

“Whenever she encounters something new or intimidating, she seeks inner reserves of strength to help her through it.” This version aims to maintain the same meaning while using simpler, more conversational language.

Embracing the innate femininity within me, especially after giving birth, has significantly amplified it. Motherhood, in a way, imbues one with an enhanced sense of strength and power.

In 2010, she became well-known for a song titled “E.T.” that discussed falling in love with an extraterrestrial. Now, she is delving into the work of one of the most renowned astrophysicists who studied such beings, namely Carl Sagan.

Concerning her mission preparations, she shared with AP that she had been immersing herself in space-related topics: “I was absorbing Carl Sagan’s Cosmos and a book about string theory. My fascination with astrophysics, astronomy, astrology, and the celestial bodies has long been present.

Although Katy Perry’s song “E.T.” might suggest her romantic feelings for an alien, Carl Sagan was a trailblazer who delved into the realm of exobiology – a science that investigates the potential existence of life beyond our planet.

1996 saw the passing of Carl Sagan, a renowned American astronomer, planetary scientist, and gifted communicator of science. However, it’s for his exceptional work in science communication that he is most famously remembered. This includes his influential role in popularizing science through his acclaimed television series, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, as well as a multitude of thought-provoking books.

In February, Bezos’ rocket company, Blue Origin, revealed the team for their space mission. Among those selected is Lauren Sanchez, Bezos’ fiancee and a skilled helicopter pilot with a past as a TV journalist. She will be joined by other women chosen by her for an approximately 11-minute space voyage aboard a rocket.

Alongside former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, and movie producer Kerianne Flynn, the stars will also be present.

The pop star expressed her gratitude, feeling both humbled and rooted, for being welcomed and accepted among this extraordinary assembly of women.

In a passionate outburst reminiscent of a die-hard fan, I’d like to express my disappointment in the mission that has been met with criticism, even from the esteemed Olivia Munn. During her recent chat on Today With Jenna And Friends, she didn’t shy away from voicing her concerns about it, a statement that resonated deeply with me.

In the beginning, Munn and Jenna initiated a chat, bringing up their latest Elle magazine cover. Meanwhile, Olivia was about to share her opinions but hesitated instead.

Afterward, she asked, “What’s their purpose? Can you enlighten me on that? I hope you understand my question.” This query brought about a few laughs from the live spectators.

Though it might not be fashionable, I believe there are numerous other issues that are truly significant and deserve our attention at this moment.

Munn then added, ‘What are you going to do up in space? What are you doing up there?’ 

Hager interjected to clarify that the six women would spend only eleven minutes aboard the flight, an analogy that spurred Olivia to liken it to a quick ride at Disney World.

As the actress kept having trouble expressing her thoughts, Jenna pointed out that Munn appeared ‘puzzled’ or ‘baffled’.

The mother of two casually said, “What’s the point of informing us? Just head up there, enjoy yourselves, and then return.

Additionally, let me express my thoughts: It strikes me as quite extravagant, although I acknowledge it might sound presumptuous, that space travel costs so much. There are many individuals who struggle to afford basic necessities like food, such as eggs.

Upon hearing Jenna mention that our all-female space team would be heading off into the cosmos with a touch of glamour, I found myself momentarily taken aback, struggling to comprehend this fabulous twist in our interstellar journey.

They’re having their hair styled, make-up applied, and even getting eyelash extensions, as Hager explained. Once more, Munn was left tongue-tied and asked, “Did they really say that aloud?

During conversation with Jenna, Munn then inquired, “However, what’s the purpose behind this? Is it significant that you all are taking the ride? To me, it seems extravagant, and I have my doubts.” He further added, “I’m not sure, but is it like the cover of Elle Magazine?

Later on, Olivia expressed, “Exploring space was aimed at expanding our understanding and benefiting humanity. In other words, what improvements have they brought from up there that directly benefit us here on Earth?

In response to my eager query, Jenna admitted, “To tell you the truth, I’m not certain,” and Munn echoed, ” Frankly, I’m unsure if pouring so much energy and resources into that rocket is entirely justified.

The actress subtly moved her head without making a sound, and Hager jokingly remarked, “Indeed, not to mention all the eyelash adhesive required for that look. It’s just one of those thoughts that keeps popping up.

For the first time since 1963, when Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova embarked on a solo space mission, Blue Origin Flight NS-31 will take off with an entirely female crew onboard.

The self-flying rocket, set to be used by six women, can stay aloft in space for approximately four minutes before it descends back to Earth.
