Meghann Fahy has spoken candidly about her frustration following the removal of an ovary due to polycystic ovary syndrome, as medical professionals initially disregarded her concerns and informed her that everything was fine.

34-year-old actress from The White Lotus series asserts that medical professionals disregarded her symptoms and challenged the validity of her experiences, only to eventually provide a diagnosis a few years later.

For quite some time, she suffered from severe acne due to cysts and endured agonizing menstrual cycles, eventually receiving a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) refers to a hormonal imbalance that leads to ovaries becoming larger and developing numerous small cysts along their edges.

In a recent conversation with Stylist, Meghann shared: “For quite some time, I experimented with various methods to address the issue, but nothing worked. Despite several doctors telling me ‘You don’t have PCOS. Cysts on ovaries are common and normal in women,’ what was happening to me was far from typical.

After persistent efforts, the actress eventually received a diagnosis from a renowned gynecologist (in Hollywood circles), who verified that she indeed suffered from the condition.

Last year, Meghann disclosed that she underwent the removal of an ovary and had her eggs preserved, after facing dismissals for several years.

She confessed: “I was extremely upset, particularly since a specific doctor had contributed to undermining my feelings by dismissing my experience.

However, my rage was outshone by the elation of discovering a female physician who would tend to me. Now, I find myself with the ability to chart a clear course for my future. Indeed, information equates to power.

It comes just after Meghann revealed she felt ‘pressured’ to freeze her eggs after being diagnosed.

In conversation with The Cut, Meghann expressed that although her dream has been to establish a family, she is confident that she can lead a fulfilling life even without having children.

She stated: “It’s striking how many young women feel the need to preserve their fertility by freezing their eggs. It seems almost like buying a costly, complicated, and emotionally and physically demanding insurance policy.

On the other hand, it might be worth considering that perhaps enduring this is a means to achieve the life I desire.

I’ve often pictured myself with a family, but I’m also someone who understands that even without one, my life could still be completely fulfilling.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) occurs when the ovaries, responsible for housing a woman’s eggs and regulating menstruation and pregnancy through hormone production, begin to overproduce androgens – hormones like testosterone that are typically present in small amounts in women’s bodies.

It remains unclear what causes it, but an overabundance of androgens seems to interfere with menstruation and bring about additional symptoms like facial hair growth, hairiness on the chest and abdomen, as well as ovarian cysts that might lead to fertility issues.

In the course of the interview, it was mentioned that Meghann talked about her relationship with actor Leo Woodall. They made their relationship official in 2023, after a long period of rumors and speculation.

The lead actor of The White Lotus openly stated that their romantic involvement wasn’t hidden, further mentioning that they wouldn’t consider dating someone outside the entertainment industry, be it a director, writer, or similarly involved professional.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d put it this way: ‘Finding a connection where I can lock eyes with someone from afar and sense an understanding – that special moment when they say, “I get you” – is truly the most precious present one could ask for in life.

In a rather embarrassing turn of events, I found myself turning beet-red as Leo, during an interview, brusquely responded to my inquiry regarding his personal relationships – a question posed by yours truly.

During their conversation at breakfast, the host engaged Leo, who played alongside Renee Zellweger in ‘Mad About the Boy’, discussing their upcoming film. However, the topic soon shifted towards their private lives.

Leo is notoriously private about his romance with Meghann.

Leo and Meghann crossed paths at the filming location for the Sicily set of The White Lotus anthology series, where they played the roles of Cameron Sullivan’s wife Daphne, portrayed by Theo James, and Quentin’s nephew Jack, acted by Tom Hollander in the show.

On February 20, 2023, Meghann officially confirmed her relationship with Leo on Instagram. However, it appears that Leo had already been sharing affectionate photos of them, such as the ‘That’s Amore’ series, as early as September 2022.

In November 2023, they were initially spotted showing affection in New York City, and their moment was snapped by E! News.

On January 15, the cherished offspring of Andrew Woodall warmly hugged the Emmy-recognized actress at Max’s Post Emmys Gathering held at San Vicente Bungalows, West Hollywood.
