Adolescence season 2? Show bosses in talks for follow-up to Netflix hit that will “stay true to its DNA”

Is it possible that we might see a second season of the show “Adolescence“? It appears there’s a chance, given that discussions are ongoing between the show creators and Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, about a potential sequel.

In my fangirl/fanboy enthusiasm, I’d like to share my thoughts about that gripping limited series, where I found myself deeply immersed in the narrative. As a viewer, I stepped into the shoes of Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and Owen Cooper, collectively portraying the intricate lives of characters entangled in a heart-wrenching tale. The story revolves around 13-year-old Jamie Miller, a character I found myself suspecting alongside the authorities, as he was accused of the tragic murder of his classmate Katie.

Over a span of four installments, the series titled Adolescence delves into the aftermath of a heinous act, exploring how it affects Jamie’s parents, Eddie and Manda.

As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but share my excitement about how “Adolescence” quickly took the world by storm. Now, it holds the title as Netflix’s most-watched UK show, and it’s ignited discussions on whether it should be mandated reading in schools.

Following this triumph, it appears that additional installments of the streaming series might be forthcoming, according to Deadline’s report, with Plan B Entertainment engaging in preliminary discussions for a potential second season.

The co-presidents, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, have revealed that discussions are ongoing with director Philip Barantini regarding the next phase of the series, but they’ve chosen to keep specifics under wraps for now.

The deadline also indicates that Gardner and Kleiner are keen for Graham and Jack Thorne to collaborate again on the project, following their work on Adolescence.

Although she didn’t reveal many details about the show’s upcoming seasons, Gardner did express her intention to expand the scope, remain faithful to the show’s core essence, and avoid repetition.

As a gamer diving headfirst into this captivating series, I can’t help but appreciate Phil’s unique approach to filming. His method of crafting each episode in a single take isn’t some flashy trick; it’s a profound conversation with the show’s essence.

In our initial discussions with Stephen and Jack, they expressed concern that avoiding or turning a blind eye has become all too simple in various situations – be it the school, the police station, therapy sessions, or one’s own family. They felt it was becoming increasingly effortless to ignore these aspects of life.

In this creative perspective, it’s possible to evade the topic at hand. Our idea was: What if you were unable to divert your gaze? Would the subject penetrate you more deeply as a result? This notion was quite exciting.

The TV adaptation of the 1984 apocalyptic drama “Threads” is being led by its production team, Warp Films, as their involvement has been confirmed.

Under the guidance of director Mick Jackson, an ’80s movie titled “Sheffield’s Nuclear Apocalypse” (which won a BAFTA) depicted the lives of two families as they navigated through the catastrophic events caused by a nuclear disaster.

Adolescence is available to stream now on Netflix.
