Bowie’s Daughter Lexi Jones Releases Debut Album with Nostalgic Tribute to Late Father

David Bowie’s daughter, Lexi Jones, has unveiled her first album titled Xandri, subtly paying tribute to her illustrious father.

Throughout the past week, Lexi Jones (otherwise known as Alexandria Zahra Jones, the only child of the deceased singer), who is 24 years old, has hinted at her upcoming music on her Instagram account.

she shared unique previews of her tunes together with unpublished clips from her early years, like a touching moment featuring herself and David.

In simpler terms, Iman, who’s married to David (who has passed away), the renowned supermodel, aged 69, shared a childhood video of herself and her dad singing together.

On Wednesday, the release took place for Xandri, a term with Greek origins signifying ‘protector of humanity’. Some of the tunes featured in this drop are titled Through All The Time, Moving Forward, and Lone Among Stands.

A fan in her comments pointed out she resembled her father’s voice in her new music.

One wrote: ‘The apple certainly hasn’t fallen far from the tree! Let me do a remix @_p0odle_’.

Last year, Lexi described the anguish she felt after losing her father.

She remembered thinking that existing and merely getting through each day seemed the same as truly living life, and so she often filled an insatiable emptiness within her by consuming harmful substances, almost like drowning herself in them.

I found myself participating in circumstances I hadn’t foreseen, which ultimately weakened the stronghold of my family. Engaging in these situations ended up leading me to a state of solitude and loneliness.

Instead of inflicting painful words on those I care for most, in an attempt to make them experience a fraction of my daily suffering, I unintentionally caused harm to them.

It seemed simpler for me to categorize myself as a psychopath, instead of acknowledging my absence of self-reflection to explain away my harmful behavior.

It was incredibly surprising, given my past as a sweet and gentle child, that I ended up becoming someone so prone to violence and anger.

Lexi grew up in New York with her father and Iman, his second wife. 

Previously, Lexi mentioned that she’s faced challenges with her mental health. However, art has served as a means for her to escape difficult situations and find solace.

On the anniversary of her father’s passing last year, Lexi posted a touching video featuring herself as a little girl playing the piano with a radiant musician – her father.

In the video, it seems like a father and his daughter are seen working together in a recording studio. Young Lexi, quite naturally, demonstrates her skills on the keyboard.

In addition, she posted a heartwarming picture showing her snuggled close to her cherished parent, who returned a loving gaze. The accompanying message on the post from Lexi read: ‘Exactly 7 years ago. I still deeply miss you.’

Lexi shares a half-sibling relationship with the well-known movie director Duncan Jones, who is 53 years old. His mother is Angelique “Angie” Bowie, the singer’s first spouse, and she is currently 75 years old.

Duncan received the nickname Zowie Bowie during childhood as a tribute to his father’s stage name. However, at the age of 18, he decided to use the name Duncan instead.

Following her birth, it is noted that Lexi helped her father see the importance of balancing work and health, giving him the motivation to prioritize wellness after his initial heart attack.

David primarily fought his liver cancer in privacy, and passed away from the illness in 2016, a few days after celebrating his 69th birthday.
