Previously, Osman indicated an engaging start to his murder-mystery series, filled with elements such as a wedding, a puzzling riddle, and wealth that surpasses ordinary imagination. Additionally, he hinted that the narrative revolves around concepts of fortune, randomness, and life’s unexpected events.
The author originally considered naming the book “Fortune’s Always Hiding,” a title inspired by the West Ham song “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.” However, he ultimately changed the title after the publishers expressed confusion over the song reference.
He shared that he initially wanted to name it “Impossible Heist,” but others didn’t grasp it. Instead, an idea popped into his mind, blending the words “Impossible” and “Heist,” resulting in “Impossible Fortune.” According to him,
2021 promises to be a bustling year in the world of the Thursday Murder Club, with an upcoming new installment and a fresh Netflix adaptation of the debut novel in the works. Notable stars like Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley will bring the central band of retiree detectives to life on screen.
The Impossible Fortune is published on September 25.
