Kath Ebbs Calls Mickey Rourke a ‘Dangerous Person’ After Big Brother Outrage

JoJo Siwa’s companion, Kath Ebbs, referred to Mickey Rourke as a “boorish individual” and a “potentially harmful person” in response to his offensive homophobic remarks during an episode of Celebrity Big Brother that aired on Wednesday evening.

I was utterly astonished when, as a housemate, the renowned Hollywood actor, age 72, reportedly reduced my dear friend JoJo, 21, to tears by using derogatory language and suggesting he could change her sexual orientation. The incident left me deeply disturbed.

Kath, a non-binary individual who prefers both she/her and they/them pronouns, expressed their indignation on Instagram after the recent episode and requested that Mickey be removed from the show.

As she complimented and expressed gratitude towards Chris Hughes for supporting her partner JoJo, she also voiced her dismay that he was the sole individual within the house whose actions were broadcasted criticizing Mickey’s behavior.

She expressed: “Many individuals are curious about my opinions regarding Mickey Rourke, or correctly pronouncing his last name, and his remarks towards my partner JoJo on Big Brother. To be honest, they were incredibly offensive, and it took me quite some time to fully comprehend what I had just witnessed.

Besides the fact that she is the one I deeply love and cherish, and I’m overwhelmed with the desire to safeguard her from harm, I’m distraught because I can’t be there for her during this difficult time. Moreover, I’m furious at the man who has hurt her, not only because I wish to console her but also because I’m powerless to confront him directly. Additionally, I have significant emotional investments in the things said about her.

In a conversation about personal preferences, Mickey questioned the influencer about their romantic inclinations, asking, “Are you attracted to women or men?” To this, the influencer revealed, “As for me, I prefer women. However, it’s important to note that my partner identifies as non-binary.

Mickey firmly maintains that if he spends more than four days with her, she will no longer identify as gay.

Later on, JoJo assured: “I can assure you that I will remain homosexual and my relationship will continue to bring me great joy.

A little while later in the garden, Mickey queried Chris about a hypothetical scenario where they all needed to eliminate each other from the house. In this situation, the WWE star expressed his intention as, ‘I would swiftly vote out the one identified as a lesbian.’

JoJo countered, saying, “‘That’s discriminatory, if that’s what you meant,'” as Chris stepped in to support her with, “‘You can’t make such a comment, Mike.’

Unwavering, I pressed on, saying, “I require a cigarette,” then indicating towards JoJo with a wave of my hand, “I’m not addressing you.

Once more, Chris counters with, “‘Mickey, you aren’t supposed to say that,’ to which Mickey clarified, ‘I understand. I was referring to a cigarette.’

Kath commented: “It’s also deeply ingrained in misogyny and aggression. People have been discussing his fear of women, but his aggressive remarks should not be overlooked as well.

‘I do feel a little disappointed that that hasn’t been an added level to the conversation.

Absolutely, I’m relieved they issued him a formal warning for his reportedly homophobic comments, but using such harmful language on a public platform like a TV show can be risky. With cameras rolling and security present, such behavior could potentially lead to serious consequences.

Additionally, it was indeed Chris Hughes we encountered, and I must express my gratitude to him, Chris, for stepping in on my behalf. In truth, I found myself quite distressed earlier, but witnessing his support for her – comforting her, no less – brought a small sense of relief. Admittedly, this situation seems rather disconcerting, considering he is a cisgender, heterosexual, white male.

In such circumstances, we require allies, regrettably, who can bravely confront aggressive, bigoted individuals with disdain for women and the LGBTQ+ community.

Or:
In situations like this, we need strong allies who aren’t afraid to take a stand against violent, misogynistic, and homophobic men.

Both sentences convey the same meaning but use less offensive language.

It seems clear that I think she’s safe due to the secure setting on the television series, yet I can’t help feeling a tinge of disappointment that it wasn’t explored more deeply.

I’d truly feel disheartened if the public didn’t eliminate Mickey from the competition. Frankly, whether or not you find him amusing doesn’t matter to me at all.

He’s not only unscrupulous but also potentially harmful. I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable being in the same room as him, and I would advise against it for anyone else too.

As Chris consoled JoJo who appeared distressed due to their exchange, Mickey got summoned to the Diary Room and received a caution.

Before stepping into the Big Brother house, Mickey was made aware of the guidelines concerning inappropriate speech and conduct.

Then, he repeated the whole conversation to Mickey, saying: “Mickey, are you aware that this language might be seen as offensive by your fellow housemates or the audience?

Mickey answered: “Yes, I believe that’s correct. If I were expressing myself harshly or if I genuinely felt that way.

Big Brother continued: ‘Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable.’

‘Alright. I can understand that,’ Mickey agreed.

Later on, Big Brother gave the celebrity a written caution and clarified, “Continuing with such words or actions might result in your eviction from the Big Brother house. Do you comprehend, Mickey?

Mickey added: ‘Yes I do. It’s some serious stuff.’

Under the influence of Big Brother, he eventually expressed his apologies, admitting, “I’m truly sorry. I wasn’t intending to be disrespectful – I was merely joking around.

‘I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.’

Apart from targeting JoJo with revolting remarks, he also criticized actress Donna Preston for her body, disparaged Patsy Palmer’s culinary abilities, and belittled other women in the house. It was observed that his disrespectful comments were mainly directed towards females within the house.

Later in the episode, Mickey caused further offence when he ‘fat shamed’ actress Donna, 38.

In her bedroom, Donna was applying an LED mask, explaining it was meant to address her neckline wrinkles.

Later, Mickey chimed in to inquire if things were functioning properly, to which she responded by mentioning that she hadn’t observed any outcomes as of yet.

Mickey responded impolitely by saying, “Perhaps you could go for a 10-minute jog around the block instead.

Donna commented, “I guess I’m developing a bit of a waddle under my chin…” To this, Mickey replied, “It’s part of life’s process… as they say, ‘You are what you consume'” (or more informally, “you are what you eat”).

Patsy then interjected to kindly remind the room that Donna ‘eats really healthy now…’

Later on, she found amusement in the situation when sharing his words with Ella Rae Wise and Danny Beard. In response, Danny quipped, “Even a French Bulldog has a better physique than him.

The subject of food was brought up again when Mickey insulted Patsy’s cooking.

Spectators were appalled by the occurrence and astonished that Mickey received merely a reprimand instead of being removed from the program altogether.

A displeased ITV viewer expressed their thoughts on social media platform X: ‘The fact that Mickey Rourke remains in #CBBUK, given his history of mistreating women and his unacceptable behavior towards Jojo, is heart-wrenching. His actions and words towards Jojo are appalling and extremely distressing to witness.’

It’s utterly shameful… treating a young woman with such disrespect, merely for being true to herself. Mickey should be removed immediately.

‘He has shown absolutely no remorse whatsoever, vile behaviour from Mickey’

TopMob has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

At the conclusion of the performance, JoJo exercised her powerful elimination option on Mickey. This means Mickey will be subject to public voting prior to the initial elimination.

During the broadcast on Wednesday, viewers and fellow residents found themselves taken aback by a rather unsanitary practice of Mickey Rourke in the kitchen.

In the morning, Mickey was seen brushing his teeth in the kitchen sink.

Onlookers were equally puzzled when the lights in the room suddenly switched on, revealing Mickey sound asleep in his jeans on a couch.

In another location, Big Brother cautioned the celebrity against concealing the cameras, since he donned a black t-shirt over one during his dressing process.

He was also reminded to wear his microphone at all times, after removing it to change.

Two days ago, there was criticism aimed at Mickey over his behavior deemed inappropriate towards AJ Odudu during the debut of Celebrity Big Brother on Monday.

Spectators grew appalled as soon as the actor started making suggestive looks towards the 37-year-old ITV presenter just moments after his entrance, with her clearly displaying discomfort.

The Wrestler star received 89 Ofcom complaints following the awkward interaction.

As a devoted follower, I found myself appreciating Will Best’s actions during our live show when he intervened, gently pulling Mickey away from me after he touched my arm. His protective stance was highly commended by the audience.

Maintaining a cool demeanor, AJ requested the actor to “stop focusing on me” and guided both of them towards the exit. The actor replied, “No, I prefer to stay with you.

Later on, Will emphasized, “Leave AJ behind!” However, he was spotted holding her hand while they appeared for their subsequent live segment together.

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but share my concerns along with others: “Gosh, I’m genuinely worried about every woman in that household given Mickey’s behavior towards AJ during their live broadcast.

‘I needed a scandal this season and i believe mickey rourke will provide it.’

‘Oh dear. Not a fan of Mickey already after that entrance.’

‘Everyone’s joking about Mickey Rouke and I get why, but I want to be serious for a second.’

Celebrity Big Brother continues on Wednesday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
