Apple TV+ Drops Official Trailer for New Alexander Skarsgård-Starring Sci-Fi Series ‘Murderbot’
Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming sci-fi comedy-thriller series titled “Murderbot,” which stars and is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård. This 10-episode show is adapted from Martha Wells’ acclaimed book series, “The Murderbot Diaries,” which has won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.
In a nutshell, Murderbot is a self-governing security unit portrayed by Skarsgård that grapples with human feelings despite its disdain for them. It finds itself inexplicably drawn to its clients who are vulnerable. The plot revolves around the robot concealing its autonomy while executing a perilous mission, all while yearning for solitude to enjoy futuristic soap operas and contemplate its role in the universe. Skarsgård shares screen time with Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones, and Tamara Podemski.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the Weitz brothers, Chris and Paul (Oscar nominees!), are the masterminds behind this upcoming series. They’ve got their hands full, writing, directing, and producing it all under their Depth of Field banner. The series kicks off on our favorite streaming platform with the first two episodes dropping on May 16, with new episodes following every Friday, leading up to July 11. Check out the trailer above, and let’s dive into this thrilling journey together!
