You Won’t Believe What Happened to Colin Farrell’s Dad
Colin Farrell’s father Eamon has passed away after a long illness, it was announced on Wednesday.
The ex-footballer of Shamrock Rovers is mourned by his wife Eileen, whom he wedded in 2016, as well as their kids Eamon, Catherine, Claudine, and the actor Colin (aged 48).
Eamon, who was 83, died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin on April 9 surrounded by his family.
His obituary states that he ‘died peacefully, following a long struggle with illness, surrounded by the love of his family and the dedicated team at Whitworth Ward.’
He was: ‘The cherished spouse of Eileen, affectionate parent of Eamon, Catherine, Claudine, and Colin, and dear sibling of the late Tommy, Maureen, and Sean.’
Deeply regretted by Rita, step-children William, Keith, Sandra, Aidan, Deborah, Karl, Ciarán, and Gary; grandchildren James, Ellen, Henry, Stella, and Oscar; in-laws, partners, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors, and friends.
Lamented by Rita, her step-children William, Keith, Sandra, Aidan, Deborah, Karl, Ciarán, and Gary; her grandchildren James, Ellen, Henry, Stella, and Oscar; as well as in-laws, partners, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Or simply:
Regretted by Rita’s step-children William, Keith, Sandra, Aidan, Deborah, Karl, Ciarán, and Gary; her grandchildren James, Ellen, Henry, Stella, and Oscar; in-laws, partners, relatives, neighbors, and friends.

His funeral mass will be held on April 12.
Colin was born to Rita and Eamon in Dublin before his parents split and both remarried.
Referring to his upbringing by Eamon and Rita, Colin stated: ‘Being the youngest, I received more leniency. My parents didn’t have as keen an eye on me, and it seems that my older brother bore the most of their discipline, while my sisters experienced less.’
‘While others might claim that I had an easy ride, I believe it wasn’t due to favoritism, but rather stemmed from my parents simply being too tired.’
Earlier on, Colin mentioned that although his parents initially belonged to the working class, they later transitioned into a more affluent social status, being middle to upper class, due to his father’s football career.
As a devoted follower, I’d share that my dad played football from around age 16 or 17, continuing until he was approximately 26 or 27. Following this, instead of pursuing football further, he decided to open a fish-and-chip shop – The Little Chip Inn – located near a golf course. Let me tell you, he never missed an opportunity to remind us about the humor in its name. Truly, it was something we could always laugh about as a family.
‘Then he had a restaurant. He has a health-food store in Dublin called Down To Earth.’
Eamon played with the Shamrock Rovers alongside his brother Tommy during the 1960s.

In 1962, Eamon was a member of the Rovers squad that triumphed in the FAI Cup, whereas Tommy secured both the league title and cup in 1964.
On Wednesday, Shamrock Rovers FC honored him by stating, “Eamon began his journey with us in 1960, at the age of 18, transferring from the renowned youth team club, Home Farm.
Eamonn, a player who represented both minor and schoolboy levels for Ireland, used to team up with his elder brother Tommy while they were playing together at Milltown.
In 1962, both of them were part of the squad that won against Shelbourne in the FAI Cup final. This historic match took place with a crowd of 32,000 spectators watching.
Earlier, it was disclosed that Colin aspired, as a youth, to emulate his dad by joining the Dublin football team.
I continued playing until I turned fifteen, and at that point, I believed this was my calling.
‘And then I realised I’d do something less meaningful – like acting.’
At the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February, where he won the award for Best Male Actor for his role in “The Penguin,” Colin mentioned his parents during his speech.
He expressed on stage: “I want to thank a few special individuals who’ve greatly enriched and given profound meaning to my life. These include my mom Rita, my dad Eamon, and two others – my sons, James and Henry.
