Sweepstakes casinos operating online are facing increasing legal challenges, with Tennessee becoming the tenth state in 2026 to attempt to close them down.
I’ve been noticing a ton of these online sweepstakes casinos popping up – they’re like regular online casinos with slots and stuff where you can win prizes. But it looks like some states are trying to put a stop to them. I just read that lawmakers in Tennessee are actually trying to pass a law to shut these sites down!
Here is a look at the Bill.
Tennessee lawmakers pushing to get rid of all online casinos
Currently, betting in Tennessee is limited to horse racing and the lottery. Despite this, numerous websites have found ways around the law to offer gambling services. These include online sportsbooks and sweepstakes casinos where people can play games like slots using virtual currency instead of real money.
The state has recently been closing down betting websites and focusing on online sweepstakes casinos. Despite these efforts, many have continued to operate. This new law will officially make online sweepstakes casinos illegal and give the Attorney General increased power to close down any sites using this type of promotion.
Online sweepstakes casinos have existed for some time, offering a gambling-like experience, despite not being true gambling. This legislation aims to close down many of these establishments within Tennessee.
