Gerard Butler’s disaster flop becomes a Netflix hit

Geostorm, the disaster film starring Gerard Butler, has gained popularity on Netflix, despite its lackluster showing in theaters initially.

Under the guidance of director Dean Devlin, the movie features Butler portraying a satellite engineer striving to prevent catastrophe when erratic weather conditions wreak havoc on Earth, triggered by defective satellites designed for climate control.

In addition to the main actors are Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia.

2017 saw the release of Geostorm, but it wasn’t well-received by either fans or critics. In fact, during its first weekend, it managed to earn only $13.3 million, which was significantly lower than its high production cost of over $120 million.

The movie hasn’t been positively received by critics, as indicated by its poor 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It appears that the movie has been revitalized following its addition to Netflix, as it ranked fourth among Netflix’s Top 10 global films for the last week.

Just a heads up, fellow gamers! If you haven’t caught “Geostorm” yet, you better hop on it quick! It’s available for streaming on both Netflix US and UK, but be warned, my friends in the UK, it’ll be gone from Netflix starting April 14. So, don’t miss out on this thrilling ride!

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” – the action sequel by Butler – will debut on Amazon Prime Video on April 25. The film initially topped the U.S. box office in January.

In the next chapter, we find ourselves reuniting with Detective ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien, played by Butler, and cunning criminal mastermind Donnie Wilson, portrayed by O’Shea Jackson Jr. Together, they hatch an ambitious plan to pull off a grand heist at the world’s most significant diamond exchange.

The movie has generally been praised by critics, garnering a ‘fresh’ rating of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 88 reviews.

Pantera replaces Den of Thieves’ heavy seriousness with a playful, wink-inducing tone that doesn’t completely erase its familiarity but is sure to appeal to those who crave pure ‘Dad Movie’ entertainment,” according to the site’s critical consensus.

Geostorm is available to stream now on Netflix.
