Tony Mokbel Snubs Eager Fan Waiting for Autograph Outside Police Station

Known criminal Tony Mokbel, recently freed from jail, has ignored an admirer only a few days after his release.

Mokbel was bailed on Friday after spending 18 years in custody for running a major drug operation.

On Monday, the individual who had been found guilty of a crime was required by his bail terms to check in with the police at Heidelberg train station.

Excited about Mokbel, a devoted admirer chose to hide, anticipating an opportunity for the infamous personality to sign his Fat Tony and Co DVD.

The 2014 television show “Fat Tony and Co,” part of the Underbelly series, featured Robert Mammone portraying drug lord Tony Mokbel.

7News documented Mokbel’s police visit, and their footage displayed him pushing past a disheartened admirer as he entered the police station.

After the close call with disrepute, the man conversed with Seven, and he maintained a thoughtful, contemplative demeanor regarding the slight.

The man confessed that he had brought along the DVD titled “Fat Tony and Co” with hopes of getting an autograph, however, Fat Tony was not receptive to this idea.

‘But that’s alright, that’s all good. Had a go, that’s the main thing.’

On Friday, Tony Mokbel was freed following an agreement by the Court of Appeal that he had been framed by a corrupt ex-lawyer and police informant named Nicola Gobbo.

According to the Herald Sun, Mokbel has shared that upon his release, his initial plans include spending time with his kids and paying a visit to his mother’s resting place.

The announcement that Mokbel would be freed drew surprised exclamations from his backers, who packed the courtroom along with an intense news coverage spectacle.

Inside the prison’s dock, Mokbel was given special attention, exchanging handshakes and conversations with his well-wishers – a pair of whom departed from court in a vibrant orange Lamborghini on Tuesday.

On Friday, he made his appearance at the courthouse yet again, this time in a fortified car, accompanied by guards from the Security and Emergency Response Team.

Under the condition of being released on bond, Mokbel is compelled to use a GPS ankle tracker which keeps tabs on all his activities.

daily check-ins at the nearby police station are required, along with following a tight curfew from 11 in the evening until 6 in the morning.

The court heard Mokbel had ‘strong family support’ and a mystery long-term de facto partner.

The justices, Karin Emerton, Robert Osborn, and Jane Dixon, decided that Mokbel had a strong likelihood of successfully appealing three drug trafficking convictions in an upcoming hearing later this year, so they granted him bail.

If he wins, it will likely result in his complete release.

His current sentence expires in 2037, but he is eligible for parole in June 2031.

It was contended by the prosecution that, due to his past actions like fleeing to Greece prior to Christmas in 2006, Mokbel might not adhere to the terms of his bail.

Mokbel’s lawyer, Julie Condon, QC, argued that Mokbel had special reasons to be granted bail, referring to his situation as a highly unusual case.

The decision about his bail relied on nine key considerations, such as his weak physical condition, the solidness of his argument, and the conditions under which he was being held in detention.

Since 2007, Mokbel found himself imprisoned following his capture in Greece, as he fled Melbourne while out on bail.

Under the moniker ‘Lawyer X’, Nicola Gobbo served as the attorney for criminal figure Mokbel during the early 2000s, while simultaneously providing information against him during his reign as a notorious crime boss in Melbourne’s violent Underbelly conflict.

The conflict started in January 1998 and lasted for approximately 12 years, concluding in August 2010. During this time, a total of 36 criminal masterminds met their end.
