Kyle Sandilands Slams Health Rumors, Threatens Lawsuits
Kyle Sandilands firmly denies speculations suggesting he’s preparing to step down from his role as host on Australian Idol.
According to Woman’s Day, there were many rumors circulating that Sandilands might not participate in the Channel Seven reality series during the 2026 season.
As a devoted admirer, I find myself sharing news that my three-year association with the idol has come to an end, according to recent publications. The producers express their concerns, hinting that my priorities might have changed.
Additionally, the report stated that Sandilands had decided to leave his position on Idol following his recent diagnosis with a brain aneurysm.
To Sandilands, it was entirely new information. He clarified to Daily Mail Australia that the rumor was baseless.
According to Sandilands, it’s appropriate for the publication to compensate its readers by making amends or restitution.
Sandilands requested that the editor of Woman’s Day should honorably reimburse the $5.99 to each and every reader who purchased this past week’s issue of the magazine.
He added that he would happily accept an apology from the publication.
Sandilands playfully indicated that he would gracefully receive Woman’s Day’s apology for the inaccurate report, and furthermore, he wouldn’t take legal action against them on this occasion.
A representative from Sandilands clarified the matter, stating that Kyle is neither bound by a three-year contract nor has his current agreement come to an end.
It seems the reports about Sandilands leaving have been overstated, as he himself clarified to Daily Mail Australia this week that he will continue for another season.
‘They’ve already booked in the dates, I think, for next year,’ he said.
Marcia Hines mentioned something to me on her desk last Monday evening. She asked, “Were you informed about the updated dates?” To which I replied, “Indeed, they shared the new dates with me a month ago.
In the early 2000s, when Sandilands initially became part of Australian Idol, he suggests that the current success of the revamped series is largely due to his input on which contestants were brought back and which were not.

‘Where’s Harry Connick, Jr? Not here. Amy [Shark]’s here now. Marcia’s here now,’ he said.
Upon our assembly, Jeff Howard, the CEO of Channel Seven, graciously approached me for a lunch meeting. During this encounter, it became apparent that he was courting me for a return to television; however, my passion for the small screen had already waned.
Later on, he proposed, “How about you return to TV?” To which I responded, “Honestly, it’s not something I’m keen on.” He countered with, “What if we revive American Idol?” At that point, my interest was piqued, and I said, “Oh, in that case, I’d be very interested!
Kyle also said the original judging panel nearly looked very different.
Originally, it was announced that the panel for Australian Idol in 2023 would be a grand event with numerous international stars – but unfortunately, those plans didn’t work out.
Harry Connick Jr. was hired to take over the role, but Kyle expressed that the program should have a local touch instead.
‘It was gonna be me, Amy Shark, Meghan Trainor and Snoop Dogg,’ he said.
However, Snoop encountered some visa complications. Almost managed to secure 50 Cent, but his busy schedule with film ventures made it difficult for us to coordinate schedules.

The outspoken personality touched upon the contentious competition between Australian Idol’s viewership and Channel Nine’s Married at First Sight, as well as explaining his decision to avoid discussing the latter program on The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
‘We discussed Married at First Sight around five years back, but my interest has waned. Despite its ongoing popularity, I have to admit that it consistently ranks as the top show of the evening.’
I also discussed this with Channel Seven, and I essentially asked them, “Why place it against Channel Nine’s most popular program?
I’m absolutely thrilled by what they said! It wasn’t about simply giving up and airing reruns of Gilligan’s Island. Oh no, they still crave something sizzling, something now, something that would captivate their advertisers – a product that’s as cool and contemporary as the latest trends!
‘A lot of people don’t want to advertise in MAFS because of the style of content of show.’
