Doctor Who and Sherlock star secretly joined one of 2025’s biggest movies

It has been quietly revealed that actor Mark Gatiss, known for his roles in “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock,” is now part of the cast for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, number 37, focuses on its main hero team, who work together to safeguard their world from the cosmic threat posed by Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson, and his emissary, the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner.

While Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are likely to grab the limelight as the main characters, it’s worth noting that other cast members will contribute significantly as well. According to reports from IGN, Steven Moffat has also joined the cast in his role.

According to the information, the actor-writer, famed for working alongside Steven Moffat, is set to portray talk-show host Ted Gilbert. In this role, he will summarize the tale of The Fantastic Four during their guest appearance on his program.

Mark Gatiss, known for jointly creating Dracula and Sherlock alongside Moffat, took on a starring role as Mycroft Holmes within the latter series. Moreover, he’s set to appear in another blockbuster hit this summer, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, where he will assume a supporting part.

Initially, despite joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gatiss didn’t receive the same level of prominence as his fellow actors. The cast for “Avengers: Doomsday” was revealed in an unusual manner; instead of a traditional announcement, each actor’s name was displayed on the back of a chair.

The extended announcement, lasting multiple hours, sparked disagreement among Marvel enthusiasts, as one humorously commented: “If the cast of Doomsday is indeed that expansive, this marathon will carry on all day. That would undeniably be the most amusing part of it all.

In a promotional video for the upcoming movie “Thunderbolts”, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour playfully ridiculed a recent unveiling, with Stan opening the clip by hinting at a significant revelation.

Harbour joked, “This might surprise you, but maybe we should bring in some seats.” He was referring to the latest casting news for the Avengers: Doomsday, to which Stan responded humorously, “It seems everyone took the seats.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is released in cinemas on July 25.
