Trisha Goddard Defies Death: Palliative Care on Big Brother
In the Celebrity Big Brother house, Trisha Goddard will be under hospice care as she bravely carries on fighting against her advanced breast cancer.
As she stepped into the well-known residence, the 67-year-old television personality disclosed that she decided to join the show while battling terminal cancer, in an effort to reassure patients that they shouldn’t let fear control their lives.
Last February, the TV personality known for hosting ITV’s daytime talk show Trisha (from 1998 to 2004) revealed that her cancer, initially diagnosed in 2008 and declared remitted since then, had unfortunately come back again.
During her stay at the house, the broadcaster not only has her private room but also carries a bag containing medication, which is part of her ongoing cancer treatment.
Before her major event, Trisha shared with The Mirror that immediately after the show concludes, she plans to board a plane to receive an injection (or infusion).
She shared that her oncologist serves as her most enthusiastic supporter, collaborating with the production team of Big Brother. Additionally, she has a unique therapist who is willing to consult with the medical professional on set.

My supportive care specialists, often misunderstood due to their name but focusing on symptom relief, are collaborating with the team here as well. As for my treatment, I underwent one infusion on Monday, so I’ll need to catch a flight immediately following the show’s conclusion to receive the next one.
I’ll have my usual supply of medications at home, ensuring they’re readily available. My oncologist has tailored my treatment plan according to this production schedule.
Twenty months ago, the previous talk show host was given the devastating news about her terminal illness, unfortunately this happened only a month before her wedding to Allen.
In August 2022, the couple exchanged vows during a small wedding service held at a restaurant in Connecticut.
In other places, she shared with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best her reason for participating in the show: “Every year, they ask me to join, and my initial reaction is usually, ‘You’re joking, right?’
Participating in Big Brother gives others a glimpse into how one can thrive with cancer, rather than being overly fearful of death to the point of avoiding life itself. That’s why I’ve decided to take part in this show.
Brave Trisha also admitted she doesn’t want her housemates too ‘pity’ her about her diagnosis.
Last year in February, I, a die-hard fan, learned with heavy heart that the mother of my beloved Billie and Madison, who moved to the US in 2010, had been tragically battling cancer. She shared that it wasn’t going away, and keeping this secret was weighing heavily upon her.

But, while she was ‘nervous’ about revealing the cancer’s re-emergence, ‘It needed to be done’.
This mother of two is dealing with a type of breast cancer that, unfortunately, cannot be cured, as it initially developed in her breast and later spread elsewhere in her body. However, there are available treatments to help manage the condition.
Through her battle with illness, her husband Allen has been a constant companion. Together with their daughter Billie Dee, he offered comfort and support as she made her way into the house.
In this instance, Allen admired affectionately as the journalist shone in her significant moment, while Trisha reciprocated with a blown kiss towards him. Simultaneously, both Billie and Allen were seen applauding her triumph.
Although not much information is available about Allen, who Trisha guardedly revealed to be her husband in February 2024, during their second anniversary last August, Trisha acknowledged him for standing by her during challenging periods. She mentioned that he brings a sense of ‘peace’ to her life amidst all the ‘chaos’.
Accompanying our wedding video montage, she penned: “The depth of affection I hold for this man. We’ve shared laughter and tears…
‘He has taught me the true meaning of intimacy and taught me it’s ok to be vulnerable.
For the very first time, I’ve experienced a sense of security throughout my existence, an extraordinary feeling considering the challenging circumstances we currently face.
My dear, I’ve navigated through stormy waters on occasion, yet never have I felt as tranquil amidst such chaos as I do with you steering the ship. Here’s to us, another year of love and adventure together. Happy Anniversary!

In the same message, Trisha disclosed that just a few of her attendees were aware that her cancer had come back. She confessed that she had to relearn how to walk prior to her special occasion.
The day following their wedding, Trisha, who had battled the disease in 2008, chose radiation therapy for her cancer treatment over a honeymoon with Allen.
Following her hip surgery, Trisha received daily radiation therapy sessions over a three-week period, along with chemotherapy once a week for approximately 4.5 months, in addition to rigorous physical therapy sessions.
During her treatment, the star persisted with her TalkTV program, and undergoes hormone therapy injections every three weeks. Additionally, she receives routine scans and blood tests.
The couple were wed by a Rabbi in front of 70 guests at their local restaurant.
Before unveiling Allen’s identity last year, there wasn’t much information available about Trisha other than her being four years older and the two having been introduced by an American acquaintance.
Allen is also a widower whose first wife died of cancer.
The couple have known each other since 2018 and got engaged in January 2022, after living in Connecticut together since March 2021.

Trisha has been married three times before.
In 1989, her first spouse, a man named Robert Nestdale who was a politician from Australia, hid his homosexuality and passed away due to AIDS.
In a 2021 interview with Piers Morgan on Life Stories, the host claimed that Robert engaged in sexual activity with someone while consciously aware of his HIV-positive status, putting that person’s life at risk by concealing his true sexual orientation.
Trisha stated that Robert, whom she married shortly after their first encounter, had risked a lot by concealing his sexuality. She expressed empathy towards him, stating that it must have been incredibly difficult for him, as if he had been enduring tremendous suffering.
Trisha shared that our wedding took place in Sydney, graced by many influential political figures. It was an amazing event, but things took a turn for the worse the very next day when he returned to Canberra.
Piers asked her if that was the moment alarm bells began to ring for her.

Robert sadly succumbed to AIDS mere weeks following Trisha’s delivery of their daughter, Billie, with her second spouse, Mark Grieve. Regrettably, it was during Robert’s funeral that she discovered he had already perished from the disease.
She and Mark married in 1993 and the pair welcomed their second daughter Madison in 1996, with the couple splitting shortly after.
Later on, in 1998, Trisha got married to psychotherapist Peter Gianfrancesco, but unfortunately, their marriage too ended, and they finalized their divorce in 2017.
‘That was the initial touch. Yes, yes. He often commented that he’s quite a tactile person. So, anyone who suggests I’m gay is merely pointing out my tactility.’
