Music

Every year, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival attracts a huge number of people to Indio. Have there been any questions or curiosities about this festival that you’ve ever had?

When is Coachella? Where is the venue?

Coachella 2025 runs April 11-13 and 18-20 at the Empire Polo Club at 81-800 Ave. 51 in Indio.

If you find yourself with some spare time, be sure to check out the vibrant town of Indio. It’s currently teeming with exciting new eateries and stores that are worth discovering!

Who is performing at Coachella 2025?

Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone top the Coachella lineup, along with Travis Scott.

Distinguished artists gracing the main stage are Charli XCX, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Benson Boone, Zedd, as well as individual performances by Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie.

Music

Just a short while until Coachella! Here’s how these local musicians, hailing from Southern California, are gearing up for the event.

When does Coachella release set times?

Usually, the set schedules for Coachella are released a few days prior to Weekend 1. However, this year, they were revealed earlier than expected on April 5th.

Additionally, the announced performance schedules contained some unexpected additions. Specifically, Weezer is slated for a weekend one Saturday afternoon performance, while Ed Sheeran has been scheduled for a Saturday afternoon show during weekend two.

It’s worth noting that a few artists who were originally scheduled to perform at the festival are no longer participating. These include FKA Twigs and Anitta.

Music

In simpler terms, here are two performers who usually fill large stages set to play their performances during the early part of the afternoon at the Mojave Tent. Unfortunately, FKA Twigs has had to cancel her appearance due to visa complications.

How do I get tickets to Coachella? Is it sold out? How much are tickets?

You can still buy tickets for both weekends of Coachella as of Monday, April 7.

Weekend 1 tickets in high demand, with remaining options offering general entry plus shuttle service priced from $779. VIP passes begin at $1,399. The majority of camping spots for Weekend 1 have been sold out, however, a waitlist is available, and the exception are some camper pop-up vans that cost $4,900 (please note that these vans do not include festival admission).

Starting from $599 (for general admission), $679 (with a shuttle pass for general admission), and $1,199 (VIP) are the prices for Weekend 2 passes, currently cheaper compared to Weekend 1. However, keep in mind that the pricing tiers might rise before Weekend 2, so it’s best to secure your spot as soon as possible. Car camping remains an option for Weekend 2 at $160, and there are also air-conditioned tent options starting from $2,400, in addition to the previously mentioned camper vans.

Those prices include fees but not taxes.

Keep in mind that you can acquire passes on a secondary platform, but exercise caution. The tickets aren’t traditional ones; instead, they come as wristbands that must be activated. Be wary of suspicious-looking posts that might appear fraudulent. If you decide to use an aftermarket site, ensure you carefully review their policies regarding how they guarantee your transaction.

Does Coachella sell one-day passes?

Nope, not since 2009. If someone is trying to sell you a one-day pass, beware.

What amenities do you get with VIP passes?

In simpler terms, having a VIP pass doesn’t guarantee access to the stage, but it does allow for quicker entry from the back (usually the yellow route), and historically, it has provided a shorter queue to enter the Yuma tent.

Distinguished individuals often enjoy superior facilities such as luxurious, climate-controlled portable restrooms similar to trailers, and they also get to dine at exclusive eateries that are off-limits to the general public.

Among all the breathtaking locations within this event, none compares to the enchanting Rose Garden, nestled near the Mojave Tent in the exclusive VIP area. Although it boasts an array of delightful food and beverage spots, its sheer beauty is what truly sets it apart. If you’re hesitant about splurging for VIP access, consider purchasing a ticket for the Outstanding in the Field chef dinner, which grants you entrance to the Rose Garden for the day.

Music

Just a stone’s throw away is the exciting Coachella festival. Here’s how these musicians, hailing from the Southern California area, are preparing for it.

Tell us about Coachella’s bathrooms.

Year after year, folks are curious about the top-notch Coachella restrooms. In my opinion, the most well-maintained and clean ones are located near the craft beer barn, across from the typical Do Lab site – these are permanent facilities. While there might be a queue, particularly during late evenings, it tends to move swiftly.

At the festival site, you’ll find an abundance of portable restrooms conveniently located. Many clusters even include air-conditioned trailers towards the rear. However, during my visit in 2024, I encountered instances where these facilities were closed for maintenance or restricted access to non-staff members on a few occasions.

How do I get a locker at Coachella?

To enjoy a locker during Weekend 2, it’s essential to make a reservation ahead of time as the general admission lockers for Weekend 1 are already sold out. The cost for these weekend reservations ranges from $89 to $109.

There are also VIP charging lockers available to those with VIP passes. Those are $89 and $99.

What’s new at Coachella this year?

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t wait to revisit the Quasar stage next year! It’s making a comeback in 2025, and there’s an exciting addition nearby – the Red Bull Mirage viewing area. Nestled within is a temporary Nobu omakase pop-up, offering a unique dining experience. For $350, you can secure a 50-minute seating, but do remember to make reservations in advance!

The campsites now offer some fresh facilities, such as the recently added Desert Sky tent setup and a weekly performance on the day before each Coachella weekend kicks off (commonly referred to as Thursday for campers’ arrival). Weekend number one will feature Chris Lake, while weekend number two is lined up with Disco Dom.

Additionally, there’s the Coachella x Electrolit Campground 5k. If you feel you need more exercise after exploring Empire Polo Club, you can join a group run every festival Saturday. The gathering spot is Desert Sky at 8 a.m., with the run starting half an hour later. It appears that this event is exclusive to campers.

7 shops and restaurants that show why this off-the-radar desert town is a must-see beyond Coachella

As a follower, I’ve found myself drawn to the vibrant allure of Indio, renowned for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. This once modest desert town is now making a name for itself as a hip, must-visit destination. Here are some recommendations on where to explore and dine in this rapidly evolving oasis:

1. Explore: Don’t miss out on the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, offering a unique glimpse into the diverse ecosystems of the Coachella Valley. For art enthusiasts, the Modernism Museum is a must-see, showcasing mid-century modern architecture and design.

2. Dine: Indio’s culinary scene is bursting with flavor. The Shields Date Garden offers a taste of local delicacies, while the nearby La Plaza Mexican Restaurant serves authentic dishes that will transport you straight to Mexico. For a more upscale dining experience, try Wexler’s Deli & Bakery for their delicious bagels and smoked fish.

Enjoy your visit to this evolving desert gem!

What’s on the food and drink lineup for the festival? Can I bring food into Coachella?

If you can think of it, chances are Coachella will have it! Here’s a roundup of the most enticing food and beverage vendors making an appearance at Coachella this year.

In 2024, we covered the top edibles at Coachella, and a good number of those merchants are coming back, among them, the Goat Mafia.

Regrettably, no food is allowed within the actual festival grounds. I do know individuals who’ve managed to sneak in a peanut butter sandwich, and unfortunately, I also know others whose sandwiches were taken away.

If you happen to find yourself with some spare moments, you might want to check out The Times’ curated list of eateries worth visiting in and around the Coachella Valley.

What’s the deal with water at Coachella? Can I bring in a refillable bottle?

At the festival, you’ll find several refilling stations conveniently located. As outlined in Coachella’s guidelines, you’re welcome to carry an empty, plastic container that holds no more than 64 ounces and is refillable. Unfortunately, metal containers like aluminum and steel, as well as glass, are not allowed. Interestingly, the past few years have seen Coachella providing aluminum water bottles. Additionally, you can bring a hydration backpack, but it must be empty before entering.

Since Coachella began, water has been priced at $2 per bottle.

In my previous visits, I was allowed to carry a sealed water bottle, but it seems that’s no longer an option according to the current list.

I’ve got some valuable tips about staying hydrated, as dehydration can be quite severe. When I embark on my journey towards the gates, I always make sure to carry a filled water bottle with me. This way, I can maintain my hydration levels and have my trusty refillable bottle ready.

Additionally, I keep a bottle of water or a sports drink similar to Gatorade in the car during the day. That ensures I’ve got something refreshing for when I return to the vehicle.

To make sure my drinks stay cold throughout the day, especially on long nights, I pre-freeze them and store them in a cooler. By doing so, they remain nice and chilly until the end of the evening.

25 of the best restaurants and bars for your Palm Springs road trip

Instead of lounging under the sun or browsing antique stores, why not explore some fantastic eateries in Palm Springs and beyond, reaching as far as Cathedral City and Yucca Valley? Your gastronomic adventure could include a hidden speakeasy, a beer hall with a Balkan twist, and a timeless steakhouse.

What should be on a Coachella packing list?

At festivals, I strongly advocate for a practical approach. It’s essential to wear comfortable shoes and socks, and having gel insoles can make long walks across the grounds even more enjoyable.

A proper hat is essential, as it’s quite warm outside, and there isn’t any natural shelter at the Coachella or Open-Air stages. So, it’s vital to protect yourself from the sun!

I usually carry a charging cable along with an external battery or two, and although mobile reception has improved significantly, it can still get chaotic when the venue gets crowded. So, during busy periods, I suggest adding time stamps to messages sent to friends, and also setting up a predetermined meeting spot – like the numbered and lettered speaker columns at larger stages – for the night or evening.

Hope this helps!

A PPE mask is beneficial because, firstly, COVID-19 remains prevalent, and secondly, there’s an abundance of dust. To combat this, I usually carry a bandanna with me as well. On sweltering days, I wet it with cold water and tie it around my neck to stay refreshed.

Oh, and don’t forget your earplugs. You can go fancy or pick up a pack at the drugstore.

What’s the weather at Coachella?

The weather might change; it seems we’re moving towards a warm first weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching over 100°F. There will be some respite as the heat decreases slightly, but temperatures are expected to increase once more during the second weekend.

On scorching afternoons, there’s often a chill in the evening air, so I typically pack a sweater in my bag as a precaution.

Do you have to pay to park at Coachella? Is there traffic?

At Coachella, you can park for free, and the parking areas will be accessible starting from 11 a.m. every day (with gates opening roughly around 1 p.m.).

As the event winds down, I usually notice an influx of traffic heading towards the venue around 3. Leaving the parking lot after the show ends can be a lengthy process.

Or, more casually:

I’ve found that traffic into the venue starts picking up around 3. Sticking around until the end of the night means I’ll likely spend more time exiting the parking lot.

If your journey from Indio is scheduled for Monday and you’re heading westward, it would be wise to depart either early in the morning (around 9 a.m.) or late in the afternoon (after 5 p.m.), as the post-Coachella traffic can be quite serious.

Rideshare options are available at Coachella, but I always hear horror stories about the waits.

You can also purchase a shuttle pass if you don’t want to drive.

Tell me about the parties and other shows outside of Coachella proper. How can I get into them? Who will be there?

Many activities occur throughout the Coachella Valley during both weekends, which are supported by different brands and often require an invitation. Although these events may claim to have no connection with Coachella, it’s clear that they exist primarily because people are in the desert for the annual music festival, such as the Neon Carnival. (Hint: Neon Carnival)

Some specific concerts featuring Coachella artists offer tickets that don’t require the high cost of attending Coachella itself.

The Goldenvoice Surf Club will bring its daytime activities back to the Palm Springs Surf Club from April 12-13 and 19-20, featuring music and a surf competition. The first weekend’s lineup includes Sammy Virji, Chris Lorenzo, Fcukers (DJ Set), ATRIP, Sara Landry, Rico Nasty, VTSS, and Kitty Ca$h. The second weekend will showcase Polo & Pan (DJ Set), Ben Böhmer, Maribou State (DJ Set), Josh Conway (The Marías), Eli Brown, Max Styler, and Massano. Passes start at $49, and attendees must be 21 or older. For more details, check out gvsurfclub.com.

Framework returns to Atlantic Aviation airport hangar in Thermal from April 11th to 13th, hosting a massive house and techno afterparty. The lineup features artists such as Chris Lake, Deadmau5, Hills on Friday; Mau P, Max Styler, Interplanetary Criminal, and Erez on Saturday; Alesso under his Body Hi moniker with Francis Mercier, Layton Giordani, and Miluhska on Sunday. Tickets are $84.46 per day or $213.21 for a three-day pass, and admission is limited to those aged 21 and over. For more details, visit thisisframework.com.

Despite undergoing a lengthy renovation, The Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs isn’t resting on its laurels. Instead, it has a few activities lined up. For instance, DJs will be spinning tunes poolside daily. Additionally, there’s an exhibition from the multi-talented artist Latashá as part of Ace’s Artist in Residence program.

An intriguing event called “MuSick: Live from Reggie Watts’ Couch” is also scheduled. This event is connected to Amazon Pharmacy and Amazon One Medical promotions and will feature a performance by Neil Frances. It takes place between noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday, and it’s free for those who register in advance.

On Thursday, April 10th from 5 to 8 p.m., you can catch a free performance by De’Wayne, Julia Wolf, and The 27’s at Big Rock Pub in Indio. This show is part of Alt 101.5 FM’s Coachella warm-up event, and there’s a chance they might even be giving away some Coachella wristbands!

I don’t want to deal with any of this. Where’s the Coachella livestream?

If you’re not planning a trip to Indio, you can still enjoy Coachella right from your living room! The performances from both weekends will be broadcasted live on YouTube.

Normally, we have separate feeds for each event phase, with the Sonora stage typically occurring during Weekend 1 and the Yuma stage during Weekend 2. However, you can easily navigate between these different feeds as needed.

Which artists will be streamed each weekend will be announced closer to the show.

If you can’t make it, stay updated with comprehensive Coachella coverage from The Times and our Instagram account @latimes_entertainment.
