Elisabeth Moss Shocks with Crewmember’s Bizarre Underwear Request from Handmaid’s Tale Set

Last month, Elizabeth Moss left people amazed when she disclosed that a crew member on The Handmaid’s Tale had requested a highly personal item that was specifically created for her.

In his latest interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 42-year-old actress, Moss, disclosed that a production staff member had made an inappropriate request concerning her character’s undergarments.

The outfit was tailor-made specifically for Moss, and she wasn’t aware at that point who had made the peculiar demand for it.

After her story went viral, the individual behind the request unveiled himself to Moss.

Moss, initially finding the request peculiar, shared with People that he finds it amusing. He also mentioned that he recognizes the person in question, but for now, he wants them to make themselves known.

Additionally, she made it clear that the individual didn’t specifically demand the undergarments, and their request wasn’t as straightforward as everyone had initially assumed.

‘It’s not bad. It’s not as bad as we thought it was,’ she insisted.

As the series comes to an end, props and costumes used throughout are being given as keepsakes to the cast and crew members involved in the production.

The list of all accessible items was circulated among executive producers, and Moss didn’t hesitate to express her interest promptly.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, I shared that I received an email detailing a comprehensive inventory of props and costumes available for me to utilize, as a dedicated follower.

Moss, playing the character of June Osborne/Offred, stated that she responded in a grown-up manner with ‘dibs’ and then went on to express everything she desired.

But someone had already asked for her character’s underwear.  

Additionally, I had a particular desire – Offred’s unique undergarments. It was these I chose to wear. I was informed that another individual had previously inquired about them as well.

A shocked Jimmy couldn’t believe what he was hearing and called the unknown crewmember a ‘creep.’ 

Let me pause here for a moment. It appears an employee inappropriately asked for your personal item – your custom underwear. Can you believe it? They wanted to take it home and keep it! As if they were asking for Elizabeth’s undergarments, intending to store them away.

‘Hopefully!’ she replied, prompting Jimmy to say, ‘Best case scenario!’  

Moss didn’t even want to know who was behind the request.

I need to collaborate with this team. I prefer to collaborate with this team. Frankly, it doesn’t matter who wants my personal belongings!

Kimmel reacted with surprise, saying, “What on earth could possibly warrant such a bizarre statement!” He then exclaimed, “I can’t believe it, I hope it’s a woman… Somebody sent you an official request for your underwear, in writing, via email, and shared it with others! We need to identify who this individual is!

The sixth and final season of Handmaid’s Tale will debut on Hulu on April 8.  

The series draws inspiration from Margaret Atwood’s novel with the same title and unfolds within the theocracy of Gilead, a nation where fertile women, known as Handmaids, are compelled to conceive for the elite, while the populace as a whole experiences a loss of personal liberties and civil rights.

In the story, June Moss is a Handmaid who serves in the residence of the high-ranking Gilead official, Commander Fred Waterford, along with his spouse, Serena, who are significant figures in the establishment and growth of Gilead.

In the fifth season, the show took an unexpected turn as Serena, having been banished, was compelled to go back to Gilead. This added a new layer of complexity to her bond with June.

Meanwhile, Moss recently confirmed she’d welcomed her first child.

Last month, she shared some exciting news during a live interview on the red carpet at the 2025 PaleyFestLA event for The Handmaid’s Tale.

This week, the Emmy-winning individual publicly announced the arrival of their first baby, sharing with PEOPLE magazine some insights on how they managed to have their child accompany them on set.

She expressed gratitude for having that opportunity during the filming of the last season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, because it was such a privilege for her.

Moss stated: ‘Many parents can’t, and so we often express this sentiment. For those of us fortunate enough to involve our children in our work or witness them there, we are always struck by the thought, “How fortunate we are to have this opportunity”.’

Before her latest hospitalization, the exact date of her giving birth wasn’t clear, however, Elizabeth mentioned during an appearance on Kimmel’s show in January 2024 that she was expecting a child.

Since Elisabeth prefers to keep her personal matters confidential, it remains unclear who the baby’s father is or when she welcomed the new addition into her family.
