All teams qualified for the BLAST Austin Major

The world’s top 60 teams will battle for a final 8 spot at the Austin Major in June.

Following the April 7 update to the Valve Regional Rankings, it is now clear which squads have earned a spot at the BLAST Austin Major in June. The teams’ invitations to various phases of this prestigious event are based on their achievements during the early part of 2025.

What is the format for the BLAST Austin Major?

The BLAST Austin Major is split into four stages:

  • Stage 1
    • 16 teams qualify via the Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQs)
      • 6 x Europe
      • 4 x Americas
      • 4 x Asia
    • Swiss stage format; three wins means qualification for Stage 2, three losses means elimination.
    • All matches are best-of-three.
    • 8 teams proceed to Stage 2.
  • Stage 2
    • 8 qualifiers via Stage 1.
    • 8 invites per April 7 VRS rankings.
    • Swiss stage format; three wins means qualification for Stage 3, three losses means elimination.
    • All matches are best-of-three.
    • 8 teams proceed to Stage 3.
  • Stage 3
    • 8 qualifiers via Stage 2.
    • 8 invites per April 7 VRS rankings.
    • Swiss stage format; three wins means qualification for Stage 3, three losses means elimination.
    • All matches are best-of-three.
    • 8 teams proceed to Playoffs.

Stage 1 MRQ teams

In the initial phase of the Austin Major, we have 16 participating teams confirmed, however, the specific teams advancing to the first Swiss round are still undetermined. These teams will be selected from the Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQs) held in each major region of CS2.

In the following table, we have categorized the participants of the MRQ event by region. As eliminations occur in their respective qualifying rounds, we’ll systematically remove them from the list.

Europe is allocated six spots for the initial stage, while the Americas are given four slots split between North and South America. Similarly, Asia gets four slots, with each sub-region within Asia receiving one slot. Notably, China receives an additional slot due to the fact that the Chinese team, known as Rare Atom, was the highest-ranked squad not yet invited to Stage 3 at the time of invitations distribution.
