Doctor Who boss confirms mysterious character will be “popping up every week” in new season
In simple terms, the showrunner of Doctor Who, Russell T Davies, has verified that Mrs Flood will be featured weekly in the upcoming series.
In the 2023 Christmas special, Anita Dobson debuted as a character who piqued curiosity, appearing as Millie Gibson’s neighbor, known as Ruby Sunday.
It turned out that Mrs. Flood had a hidden side when she identified the TARDIS belonging to the Doctor in the final scene of the episode. Furthermore, in subsequent episodes, she appeared to be acquainted with the villain, Sutekh.

Previously, Dobson hinted at the unveiling of her character’s real identity, and more recently, showrunner Davies has disclosed that Mrs. Flood will make regular appearances throughout the series, culminating in a significant revelation during the final episode.

She’s the exact opposite – she’s someone who seems incredibly self-assured… she was revealed towards the end of the last season, standing on a rooftop with a parasol, in a white fur coat amidst snow, proclaiming ‘I will bring utter terror!’ – so it appears that she has no qualms about revealing herself completely.
As a devoted fan, I can share that Dobson’s character, Flood, will have significantly expanded roles in the upcoming episodes. Prepare yourself for a deeper dive into his storyline, as it unfolds and reveals more about this intriguing character.
In the next episode, we welcome a new traveler alongside The Doctor – Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu; meanwhile, familiar faces like Ruby, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, portrayed by Jemma Redgrave, and Melanie Bush, acted by Bonnie Langford, are set to reappear.
Besides Freddie Fox from “House of the Dragon”, Christopher Chung known for his role in “Slow Horses”, and Rose Ayling-Ellis, a star from “EastEnders”, other notable guest stars will be part of our upcoming eight-episode season as well.
In the meantime, Davies expressed his continued anticipation for a decision regarding the show’s future beyond the upcoming season, hinting at his hope that it will return.
The popular series, “Doctor Who,” is coming back on April 12th, airing on both BBC One and iPlayer in the United Kingdom. For those outside the UK, you can find it on Disney+. If you’d like to catch up on some classic episodes, they are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
