Actress Drew Barrymore has shared insights about an injury that’s still bothering her, which she sustained while filming a movie around two decades ago.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor reminisced about the impact of the movie “Fever Pitch,” or as some call it, “The Perfect Catch.” This romantic comedy follows the story of Lindsey, portrayed by Barrymore, a corporate executive who unexpectedly falls for Ben (played by Jimmy Fallon), an ardent Boston Red Sox fan.
As the movie, adapted from Nick Hornby’s 1992 book, marks its 20th anniversary, Barrymore revealed that she continues to struggle with a back injury sustained during one of the film’s memorable scenes.
While Lindsey was sprinting towards Ben, having just descended from the bleachers, Barrymore shared an incident that happened during the shoot – she had fallen while filming a particular scene, reminding us of: “There’s a segment where I climb the Green Monster, the wall, and I take a tumble.
When I performed that action, I took a severe fall on my back. Consequently, you’ll notice me falling, making genuine wincing and yelling sounds. It was all authentic. Despite this, I had to continue running, and my back is still in poor condition. I can’t help but think, ‘Was it in Fever Pitch?’

In more recent times, Drew Barrymore, famous for roles in “Scream” and “Charlie’s Angels,” has been delving into a career beyond acting. Since the year 2020, she has been hosting her own daytime talk show, titled “The Drew Barrymore Show.
Besides hosting her own program, Barrymore additionally spearheaded and produced CBS’ revival of the vintage game show “Hollywood Squares.” In this latest version, the actor occupied the central square role. Following a fruitful initial run recently, the show has been granted a green light for a second season.

Even though Drew Barrymore has embarked on a new profession, she hasn’t closed the door entirely on acting again, particularly if it involves collaborating with Adam Sandler, her co-star in movies like “The Wedding Singer,” “50 First Dates,” and “Blended.
