Succession boss’s star-studded new movie gets release date and first look
HBO has given us a sneak peek at the upcoming film by Jesse Armstrong titled Mountainhead, and they’ve also announced when it will hit the screens.
The creator of “Succession” is responsible for writing and directing a forthcoming movie. This production is scheduled to make its U.S. debut on Max on May 31, while it will premiere in the United Kingdom on Sky and NOW on June 1.
According to the official description, the movie titled “Mountainhead” unfolds amidst a global conflict that’s gradually escalating, and it centers around a clique of wealthy acquaintances. At this point, more specifics about the plot are being kept secret.

The main characters are played by Steve Carell (from “The Office”) as Randall, Jason Schwartzman (“Queer” fame) as Hugo Van Yalk, Ramy Youssef (“Poor Things”) as Jeff, and Cory Michael Smith (“Gotham”) as Venis.
Completing the group are Hadley Robinson, Andy Daly, Ali Kinkade, Daniel Oreskes, David Thompson, Amie MacKenzie, and Ava Kostia.
In the initial glimpse of “Mountainhead”, we see the four principal billionaires (Carell, Schwartzman, Youssef, and Smith) flashing smiles at the camera, all clad in identical orange snowsuits. A different shot reveals them engaged in dialogue over beers within a mansion.
A third photo shows the exterior of an impressive house, which sits on top of a snowy mountain.
Mountainhead signifies the first directorial effort by Armstrong, having been his initial endeavor following the conclusion of Succession, which aired its final season in 2023 after completing a span of four seasons.
Rumors about a spin-off for the series “Succession” surfaced after its end, but later on, Armstrong dismissed the idea as unappealing, stating that it didn’t seem like the most captivating project.
He then added that he’d “written them [the characters] enough now”.
Kieran Culkin, playing Roman Roy in the series, mirrored Armstrong’s thoughts when asked about a possible spin-off at the Emmy Awards. In his words, “I wouldn’t rule it out completely, but it seems quite improbable… everything would hinge on Jesse Armstrong’s plans.
However, Jesse, along with us, seems to believe that the situation concluded appropriately. We didn’t provide a resolution, instead allowing them to continue navigating their peculiar and terrifying environment.
The show “Mountainhead” is all set to make its U.S. debut on Max on May 31st. Meanwhile, viewers in the UK can catch the premiere on Sky and NOW starting from June 1st.
