Revealed: Amy-Jane Brand’s Shocking Journey from Glamour Model to Lost Millions!

Currently, Amy-Jane Brand closely resembles numerous blonde, curvaceous Australian influencers who earn their living by showcasing fashion and lifestyle through Instagram posts.

However, this Perth-based influencer, aged 34, has revealed the unsavory and harmful circumstances she encountered during her quest to establish herself as Australia’s top glamour model, describing them as seedy and toxic.

On her Emotional Content podcast, Amy-Jane candidly discusses the less than glamorous beginnings of her modeling and influencing journey.

In my expert perspective, I share captivating tales ranging from playfully clashing heads with a gentleman at a vibrant nightclub swimwear competition, to an acclaimed shutterbug sealing our lips during an intense nude photoshoot, and a prominent LA magazine magnate urging me to attain a size zero by adopting unconventional methods such as abstaining from meals and experimenting with cocaine.

However, what she finds most regrettable from the lengthy show, she mentions, is losing out on potential millions due to Zoo Weekly.

Originating from Bauer Media Group in 2004, Zoo Weekly catered to male readers with a diverse range of topics, encompassing sports, games, entertainment, technology, and showcasing the most captivating Australian female personalities.

In her twenties, Amy-Jane was flown to Sydney by the magazine for photoshoots, with payment of around $400 for nude photo articles and between $800 and $1000 for semi-nude magazine cover shots.

Back then, that was her bread and butter.

At Zoo Weekly, models often consented to contracts which, in essence, allowed them to increase the sexiness in the captions accompanying their images, according to Amy.

‘Everyone I idolised was doing it, so I didn’t think much of it at the time,’ she said.

‘I actually ended up losing millions of dollars because of that reason.’

In 2015, the magazine chose to discontinue its Australian version because of declining subscriptions and allegations of bias against women.

‘My grandmother on my dad’s side was very well off,’ she explained.

‘When I was young, my grandfather had already passed away, but he was wealthy due to his success as a businessman.’

In 2013, the British-origin influencer’s father and her father’s brother (her uncle) both passed away. She was left as the sole relative who could potentially claim the inheritance, but she hasn’t had contact with her other cousin since then.

‘This is my version of the truth,’ she said.

Last week, I completed my second cover story for the local zoo’s weekly publication. It turned out to be an exceptional week for me. I felt incredibly pleased with my work, and I knew exactly where the newspaper would be distributed and sold.

‘I get this phone call from my grandmother in the UK.

‘She was beside herself about the magazine. Furious.’

In the United Kingdom, Zoo Weekly was a publication that featured explicit nudity, and it did not publish semi-nude photographs or articles featuring Amy-Jane.

Amy-Jane mentioned that she received a call from her stating she found the magazine at a local news agency in the UK, where she saw it on display with her image on the cover and read the interview.

I hadn’t talked to my grandma about my glamour modeling career since she isn’t internet-savvy, and I felt it wouldn’t interest her much.

She struggled to explain where she found the magazine, instead insisting that she picked it up from newsstands. Despite my questions, she persisted in changing the subject and criticizing me for being unclean.

I hadn’t expected that, upon discovering this, she would cut all ties with me. She made it clear that my father would have been deeply disappointed in me and removed me from his will.

She didn’t seem to mind my words, firmly declaring that she would never converse with me again, and as a matter of fact, she never reached out to talk with me ever since then.

She added she wasn’t ‘too bothered’ and ‘didn’t really think about it’ at the time.

In the third year following the event, it was discovered that her grandmother had died, and her cousin now held all of the family wealth as an inheritance.

He might be cruising around in a G-Class SUV, enjoying himself at the moment. Money isn’t something I’m overly concerned with, but that tale is quite intriguing.

The discovery that she had passed away came from the fact that the individual who purchased her house returned an unopened Christmas card.

Initially, Amy-Jane ventured into glamour modeling as she found herself unsuitable for runway modeling due to her height, and she didn’t fit the typical profile to participate in the Miss Universe Australia competition.

She mentioned that she had carefully reviewed the detailed terms, which included an agreement to confirm that there’s no compromising content about her on the internet that could potentially embarrass Miss Universe.

As a lifestyle advocate, I found myself overindulging in social gatherings more than was healthy for me at that moment. I felt uneasy about endorsing such behaviors.

When she began modeling at the age of 19, she deliberately sought out unconventional, bold, and revealing projects such as bikini shoots and semi-nude poses, which were not common among most models at that time.

The social media app, launched in 2010, was still in its infancy.

‘Photographers were compensated by me, while the publications themselves covered their fees. Essentially, your goal would be to get published, hoping it would enhance your credibility and attract further assignments.’

She narrated an incident where a well-known photographer allegedly became aroused following photo shoots involving her, submerged in a bath of milk and Fruit Loops. Another photographer reportedly pressured her so forcefully to disrobe completely that she hurriedly escaped to the bathroom and departed.

‘He sent the photos unedited because I didn’t do what he wanted.’

At age 20, I wasn’t prepared for complete nudity. I was a size 6. Someone suggested that I should achieve a U.S. size zero by participating in social circles. This essentially meant using cocaine and not eating regularly.

Additionally, Amy-Jane openly disclosed that she underwent a rhinoplasty procedure to correct a small hump visible on her side profile, which professional photographers typically edited or smoothed over in her photos.

On another occasion in the bustling heart of Los Angeles, I found myself modeling for a close acquaintance and talented photographer as he captured an aerial nude shot from high above.

At that time, I was 26 years old. He set the camera aside, climbed onto me, and gave me a kiss. When I tried to push him away, he just chuckled it off.

Amy-Jane has been featured in magazines such as GQ, Maxim, Playboy, and Sports Illustrated, which led to significant business partnerships. Currently, she boasts an impressive following of 437,000 on Instagram.

In an ironic twist, it turns out that many of these magazines are struggling because readers aren’t purchasing them anymore, as their content is now readily available online instead.
