Helen George, a star on “Call the Midwife”, revealed that she unintentionally drew multiple police visits due to neighbors overhearing someone crying and shouting for assistance.
In a chat on the “Drunk Women Solving Crime” podcast, the actress who portrays Trixie Aylward in the BBC period drama, revealed that she was once visited following concerns raised by neighbors about her well-being.
One night, I was sound asleep when there came a knock on my door around two in the morning, the actor reminisced. Peering out, I found two policemen standing on my doorstep. They asked, “Are you alright?”, their expressions revealing genuine concern for my well-being.
Initially, I responded with, ‘Yes, I was just sleeping. I’m fine.’ But then they informed me that some of my neighbors have reported hearing me cry and shout for help downstairs. This left me utterly astonished, as I had been soundly asleep. I exclaimed, ‘Oh my goodness! I was asleep? What on earth is going on?’
Initially, I was extremely anxious, and subsequently, they disappeared. However, by then, it seemed as if they had searched through my apartment, suspecting that someone might be inside, endangering me. Over the following two months, this situation recurred approximately two to three times more.
In 2012, George initially portrayed Trixie and later on explained that he was puzzled by the rumors of broken glass and shouting. However, it turned out that the commotion they heard actually originated from the neighboring residence.
In the realm of “Call the Midwife”, its creator Heidi Thomas hinted that there could be a temporary pause in the series, stating: “I don’t foresee ‘Call the Midwife’ coming to an end entirely. However, I do suspect we might need to take a brief rest at some stage.
Every year around this time, we often find ourselves engaging in a continuous discussion: is there an end in sight for our series? What are our goals? However, as we identify more possibilities to expand the narrative universe of Call the Midwife, any pause we might take would be with the intention of exploring other facets of the show.
