The initial trailer for the upcoming comedy movie titled “The Naked Gun,” featuring Liam Neeson, has just been unveiled.
In this new installment of the legendary series, Liam Neeson assumes the character of Frank Drebin Jr, a policeman carrying on the legacy left behind by his deceased father, famously portrayed by Leslie Nielsen in the earlier movies.
Before its official premiere on August 1st, a sneak peek at the movie was unveiled earlier today. The storyline kicks off when law enforcement officials surround a bank under attack by criminals.
In spite of a strong police presence, a young girl successfully infiltrates the bank and faces off against the thieves. However, they were taken aback when Junior, disguised as someone else, emerged from behind the mask, using a lollipop stick as a weapon.
Following his heroic actions and being inquired about his identity, Frank Junior casually reveals himself as the “updated version”. Upon seeing a picture of his father, we also catch a peek at Paul Walter Hauser’s portrayal of Captain Ed Hocken Jr., who is the son of George Kennedy’s character from the initial films, with his underwear exposed in plain sight.

31 years after its last installment, “The Naked Gun” is now directed by Akiva Schaffer. Alongside him, the script was jointly written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Schaffer himself.
In this undertaking, Seth MacFarlane from “Family Guy” fame assumes a producer’s role alongside Erica Huggins. The ensemble includes Pamela Anderson, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder, and Busta Rhymes as supporting artists.

Although the movie’s plot isn’t fully disclosed yet, the trailer’s tagline hints at Liam Neeson reprising his role from the Taken franchise. The line reads: “There’s only one man with a unique skill set… to head Police Squad and save the world!
The initial movies, based on the 1982 TV show “Police Squad!”, often placed Nielsen’s clumsy cop in perilous predicaments. The first movie, debuted in 1988, was followed by “The Smell of Fear” and “The Final Insult” in 1991 and 1994 respectively.
Or, more casually:
The original movies, inspired by the 1982 TV series “Police Squad!”, put Nielsen’s bumbling cop in a lot of tricky spots. The first movie hit screens in 1988, and was followed by “The Smell of Fear” and “The Final Insult” in 1991 and 1994 respectively.
The Naked Gun is scheduled to be released on August 1.
