BBC makes exciting announcement for “irresistible” and “brilliant” new drama with The Split star

The BBC has announced the all-star cast of its upcoming drama Two Weeks in August.

In Greece, an eight-part series penned and produced by Catherine Shepherd focuses on a circle of companions rekindling their bonds as they explore personal truths and hidden aspects of one another during their vacation.

Actress Jessica Raine from the show “Call the Midwife” has been given the role of Zoe, a woman stretched in multiple directions, eagerly anticipating that this vacation might provide the rejuvenation she and her entire family require.

She is accompanied by actor Damien Molony, known for his role in “The Split,” playing her troubled spouse Dan, Nicholas Pinnock from “For Life” portraying their longtime friend Solomon, and Antonia Thomas from “The Good Doctor” taking on the role of her new wife Jess.

Other cast members include Leila Farzad and Hugh Skinner as their university friends Nat and Jacob.

Completing the group are Dolly Wells, Tom Goodman-Hill, Dylan Brady, Maria Almeida, Khalil Gharbia, Florence Banks, Sonny Poon Tip, and Cassius Hackforth.

Or, in a more conversational tone:

The team is rounded up with Dolly Wells, Tom Goodman-Hill, Dylan Brady, Maria Almeida, Khalil Gharbia, Florence Banks, Sonny Poon Tip, and Cassius Hackforth.

Or, for a casual setting:

And here’s the rest of the gang – Dolly Wells, Tom Goodman-Hill, Dylan Brady, Maria Almeida, Khalil Gharbia, Florence Banks, Sonny Poon Tip, and Cassius Hackforth.

In August, the narrative will shift focus to Zoe as she embarks on a vacation with her loved ones, aiming to rekindle happiness in her life.

Yet, as Zoe pursues her heartfelt wishes, the anticipated vacation turns into a confrontation with a gang of individuals unwilling to mature.

As they uncover their predicament of being stranded on the island, the group encounters critical scenarios that threaten their survival. Over time, tensions rise and fingers start pointing as they seek to identify who might be responsible for their plight.

Is it Zoe who is causing the chaos and damage, or are greater powers influencing events, making them seem like a descent from paradise into chaos? After all, we’re in Greece, a place steeped in mythology where gods and their powers were said to shape human lives.

Currently, the series is under production in Malta and Gozo, with Tom George and Matthew Moore serving as its directors.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but echo Raine’s words when she calls this story “brilliant,” “epic,” and “tragic.” And Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, has certainly piqued my interest with her promise that the group’s reunion will unfold across eight sun-soaked episodes, making it impossible to resist.

Two Weeks in August will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
