Hit ’90s-set crime thriller prequel series confirms return

The 1990s-based precursor to the Michael C. Hall series, titled “Dexter: Original Sin“, has officially been renewed for a second season.

The series made its debut in December and continued airing up until Valentine’s Day. Its success was significant enough that Paramount+/Showtime approved production for a second season.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that our beloved showrunner and executive producer, Clyde Phillips, will once again grace us with his genius for the upcoming season! The writers’ room is already preparing to gather, and we can expect production dates to be announced in no time. Can’t wait to see what magical stories await us!

Original Sin

In this series, Patrick Gibson portrays the 15-year-old incarnation of Michael C Hall’s character, who is a serial killer. Concurrently, Hall lends his voice as the narrative guide. Our central figure, this antihero, grapples with his violent inclinations, having recently become aware of them.

Through his foster father, Harry (portrayed by Christian Slater), he learns to adhere to a specific rule, taking lives only from those who warrant it. Meanwhile, he discreetly embarks on an internship within the forensics department of the police department to maintain a low profile.

Simultaneously, the spin-off series of Dexter, titled New Blood, is being followed by another series, Dexter: Resurrection, which is slated to air during the summer season.

Additionally, it has been announced that some notable figures will be joining the cast of Resurrection, including Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones, who will portray a billionaire venture capitalist concealing a mysterious past, and Uma Thurman, known for Kill Bill, taking on the role of his head of security.

In the television series “Modern Family,” actor Eric Stonestreet has secured another role, where he’ll portray a chilling character – a serial killer – over the course of four episodes.

In 2023, it was announced that a prequel focusing on John Lithgow’s character, The Trinity Killer, and featuring his voiceover narration, was in development. With the news of season 2 of Original Sin, it appears that this spin-off is edging closer to becoming a reality.
