Wendy Williams Bangs on Window to Show Appreciation to Protestors

A crowd of well-wishers known as the “#FreeWendy” group enthusiastically greeted Wendy Williams with waves, gathered at the entrance of her assisted living home, expressing their solidarity during her struggle to break free from a decades-long court-appointed guardianship.

Seeing fans assembled outside her home, the 60-year-old ex-talk show host quickly made her way to the window and began tapping on it to convey her appreciation.

Besides greeting her supporters with smiles and waves, the media figure, who received a diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, also started dancing and enjoyed the enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Though it’s uncertain whether she could make out the cheers from within, fans passionately shouted for her liberation and expressed their affection for her.

Initially, she leaned her ear against the pane of glass, as if trying to catch the words of her fans outside. Subsequently, she donned a New York Yankees baseball cap and danced joyously in front of the window.

Entertainment journalist Anita Bennett posted on Twitter about a lively and relatively small gathering that demanded an end to Williams’ guardianship on April 1st.

During the course of the demonstration, Williams expressed to People magazine that it was incredibly heartening to witness her supporters, along with their homemade posters and T-shirts.

She shared over the phone, “I’m standing here, gazing out the window since I enjoy such sights. There isn’t anything I prefer more than pausing and appreciating the view.

She added: “It’s pleasing to encounter ordinary individuals, yet right now in my life, what matters most is interacting with media. Unfortunately, I don’t have the confidence in many people these days, and it’s hard to pinpoint who I shouldn’t trust, but there are some individuals whom – oh dear, I wouldn’t trust them beyond a stone’s throw.

Williams went on to claim that the ‘memory unit’ is a ‘f**king dump.’

The star emphasized that whatever actions I take are carried out right here, in this very room you’re familiar with, specifically on this bed.

Currently, the mother with one child expressed that she is completely certain that her guardianship will be terminated.

Once I find myself free from this predicament,” she mentioned, “I plan on remaining in New York, a place where I feel at ease.” And as for romance, “I eagerly anticipate it…” She made no attempt to hide her feelings.

Additionally, Williams refuted incorrect stories surrounding her and her relatives that arose following the implementation of the court-appointed conservatorship in 2022.

She expressed to the source that it bothers her when people discuss her and her son, especially when they mention things like having attorneys and material possessions. “Here’s what I want you to know,” she said. “Unless you hear from me, my niece Alex Finnie, my friend Suzanne Bass, or anyone within my family, that’s the genuine me.

Williams made it clear that if anyone else were to speak for her, it would be senseless nonsense.

Earlier this week fliers for a #FreeWendy rally began circulating in New York City.

Last month, according to TMZ, Williams achieved a flawless result on a capacity evaluation conducted by a psychiatrist.

Based on available information, Wendy was given a questionnaire with ten questions aimed at evaluating her understanding and decision-making skills. Remarkably, she answered all correctly, scoring a perfect 10 on the test.

Despite a single test not providing a comprehensive view of someone’s cognitive abilities, scoring exceptionally well on this test suggests she might be more cognizant than suggested by her guardian.

Williams had previously been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Nonetheless, it was made clear that the test given to Williams had no bearing on her dementia diagnosis.

It is expected that the findings from the test will be communicated to the judge currently managing her guardianship case.

Over the past few weeks, Wendy has been actively communicating with the media to argue her point that she’s made significant strides and capable of handling her affairs independently, including personal care and finances.

This coming week, we can expect an expansion in Williams’ public relations efforts as she plans to make her initial nationwide TV appearance following her diagnosis of dementia.

Earlier reports indicated that before Williams went to the hospital, New York Police Department (NYPD) officers had paid a visit to her assisted-living facility for a routine health and safety check.
