The Beatles fans are all making the same complaint after official cast reveal

Fans of The Beatles have been expressing similar criticisms following the disclosure of the cast for Sam Mendes’ forthcoming four-part biography.

1917 and Skyfall’s director is preparing to helm four films about The Beatles, one dedicated to each member of the quartet. These are expected to hit theaters simultaneously in April 2028.

Yesterday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Mendes introduced the main cast to the audience, officially announcing that Paul Mescal has been chosen to portray Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will depict John Lennon, Joseph Quinn is set to embody George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will bring Ringo Starr to life.

Despite sharing a group photo on Instagram by Sony Pictures, some fans have voiced their puzzlement about the casting choice, stating that they struggle to recognize the similarity between the actors and the characters they are portraying.

One fan remarked, “I couldn’t locate any performers who bear a slight resemblance to them,” while another said, “I adore these actors, but they just don’t look like The Beatles at all.

A person remarked, “I wonder if the casting directors have ever seen what The Beatles actually look like?” Another joined in, saying, “They bear no resemblance to each other; I can’t even guess which one is which.

Yet, since the image shows the actors instead of their portrayal as The Beatles, perspectives might shift after film-making techniques like costumes, wigs, prosthetics, and makeup are used to metamorphose them into the iconic band members.

Mendes has pledged that the project, known as “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event“, will offer a “cinema binge experience like never before”. He further noted, “We need grand cinematic events to entice people out of their homes.

For quite some time, the director harbored a desire to portray The Beatles on screen. However, he wasn’t keen on creating a miniseries, as he felt that the tale was so vast it might not be contained within a single film.

To gain a deeper insight into each Beatle individually, he plans to produce four separate films, offering unique perspectives on each band member.

The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be released in cinemas in April 2028.
