Several well-known celebrities have competed on the popular game show Jeopardy! through its Celebrity Jeopardy! spin-off. It’s always interesting to see how they’ll do, and Lisa Ann Walter from Abbott Elementary had a great win in Season 2 of Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2024. However, she wasn’t so lucky when she returned for the Tournament of Champions on January 26th, and she recently shared her thoughts on why her performance wasn’t great.
On Tournament of Champions, Walter went head-to-head with TJ Fisher, a marketing specialist, and Mike Dawson, a technology manager. The competition didn’t go smoothly for the actress and comedian, as she spent a significant portion of the show with a negative score. After a wrong answer left her at -$200, Walter offered a surprisingly brief, three-word reaction when host Ken Jennings—a celebrated Jeopardy! champion himself—revealed the correct response.
What the hell?
I was watching the latest episode – you can find it on Hulu – and the audience was really reacting to Walter! There were a lot of laughs, but also some shocked gasps when she said that one thing. Honestly, I think I would have gasped too if I’d been there! And it sounds like she kept the funny moments coming all night, ending up down $2,600. She didn’t make it to the semifinals, but it seems like she had a really memorable time competing, and that’s what matters.
It’s uncertain if Lisa Ann Walter will be back on Jeopardy!, but she definitely has valuable experience she can share. As a Celebrity Jeopardy! champion, she could be a great mentor to her Abbott Elementary colleagues if they ever compete on the show.
You know, it’s fun to see Sheryl Lee Ralph pop up everywhere! It’s not just Jeopardy! – she and some of the cast from Abbott Elementary were on Celebrity Family Feud in 2022, facing off against the folks from Hacks. And she’s been keeping busy! She was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire earlier this year, and last year she even showed off her moves on Dancing with the Stars with her friend Elaine Hendrix. It’s great to see her having so much fun!
While Janelle Walter sometimes appears on game shows or competitions, she’s been primarily focused on filming the fifth season of Abbott Elementary recently. Although a sixth season hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it’s still too soon to tell. The show is very popular with fans, so I expect an announcement about its renewal will likely come soon.
Despite everything else going on, Jeopardy! still provides plenty of surprising and entertaining moments, and I’m enjoying it. It’s likely we’ll see contestants say unexpected things in the future, and I wouldn’t be shocked if someone – whether a celebrity or not – accidentally swore like Lisa Ann Walter did.
