James Bond star Bruce Glover has died at the age of 92.
On Instagram, Crispin Glover, the actor’s son, announced that his dad passed away on March 12th, without providing additional information.
Notably, Glover is recognized for his portrayal of the assassin Mr. Wint in the 1971 film “Diamonds Are Forever,” part of the James Bond series. Other notable roles include appearances in “Walking Tall” (1973), “Chinatown” (1974) and “Hard Times” (1975).
Additionally, he appeared in several television series, including “My Favorite Martian,” “The Rat Patrol,” “The Mod Squad,” “Gunsmoke,” “Adam-12,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Police Story,” “Barney Miller” and “CHiPs.
In a 2019 interview for The Original Van Gogh’s Ear Anthology website, Glover shared insights about his memorable performance in the film Diamonds Are Forever and his experience collaborating with director Guy Hamilton.
Guy Hamilton eagerly embraced all my suggestions, and a significant portion of the film’s humor was due to them, as he himself acknowledged. All those creative concepts were mine.
In the closing scene of the film, when Sean Connery performs an awkward action by pushing something upward into another character, creating a comical and climactic sexual moment, it is the most humorous part of the entire movie.
I recall receiving a few positive comments about it from Sir Roger Moore, who said it was his favorite funny Bond scene ever. This praise is truly appreciated.
In more recent developments, it’s been made official that Amy Pascal and David Heyman are set to produce the upcoming James Bond film. This change comes following the news that Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will relinquish their creative authority over future productions.
In a shared statement, it was noted that James Bond stands out as one of the most enduring and recognizable figures in cinematic history.
It’s an honor and a privilege to carry on the tradition set by Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, whose remarkable films have left a lasting impact. We are thrilled and eager to preserve the essence of Bond as he embarks on his upcoming journey.
