Who was Death in Paradise’s Denis Guyenon? That touching season 14 finale tribute, explained
The final episode of Death in Paradise’s season 14 didn’t quite reach the epic proportions of the previous one, yet it certainly generated anticipation by revealing two major surprises.
1. The initial event is Don Warrington’s character, Selwyn, refusing his Commissioner’s offer for reinstatement.
2. Meanwhile, it comes to light that Mervin (Don Gilet) has a sibling. Just as the temporary DI was starting to leave Saint Marie, having resolved his family matters, he found himself pulled back in again.
It’s consistent with his personality that Mervin has unsuccessfully attempted to depart from the island multiple times. Each time he boards the plane, yet for some reason, it never takes flight with him aboard.

As a gaming enthusiast, let me share my thoughts on the last episode of this season, an incredible culmination of an emotionally resonant and gripping journey in the BBC series. The closing credits were dedicated to Denis Guyenon, leaving us wondering about who this person is and how he influenced the show.
So, who was Denis, and what role did he play in shaping this captivating tale?
Who was Denis Guyenon in Death in Paradise?
Denis Guyenon served as the on-set photographer during the filming of “Death in Paradise,” responsible for taking photos used in promotions and publicity. Unfortunately, he passed away on July 6, 2024.
Speaking about his demise, the executive producer of Death in Paradise, Tim Key, remarked: “Denis Guyenon was deeply cherished and an essential member of our Death in Paradise family, contributing to the show since its inception.
It’s likely that if you came across a picture from the show, Denis was the one who captured it. A kind, caring, and gifted individual, he had a deep connection to the show and everyone involved. His absence leaves a noticeable gap on our set. We all will deeply miss him during this difficult time, extending our sympathies to his family.
As his show’s photo representative for over a decade, I can confidently say that he transformed into more than just a colleague – he became my friend and an accomplice in our crime-fighting adventures. An indispensable member of the DiP family, he significantly contributed to the success of our show. Among the hardest working and kindest individuals I’ve ever met.
He always went above and beyond without any hesitation, and his main goal was to make us shine and provide everything necessary for promoting the show. The team adored him, and throughout the years, he cultivated numerous friendships. His family mentioned that nothing brought more joy to him than working on DiP.
Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
