New Netflix true crime movie Con Mum has left viewers “stunned” as it tops the UK charts.
A newly premiered documentary narrates the tale of a British culinary artist named Graham Hornigold. He receives contact from a lady known as Dionne, who claims to be his biological mother. Yet, as their relationship unfolds, it’s apparent that her assertions are not accurate.
Over the past few days, since its debut on the streaming platform, “Con Mum” has rapidly climbed to number one in the UK’s Top 10 movies, outranking films like “No Hard Feelings” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”.
Many individuals on social platforms have expressed their feelings about the movie, with one commenting: “On Netflix, “With My Mother” is a must-watch. Without giving away any spoilers, let me tell you that I was left speechless by the turn of events.
About the series ‘Con Mom’ on Netflix, it’s absolutely mind-blowing! I really feel sorry for the main character.” Another viewer commented, while another exclaimed, “I finished watching ‘Con Mom’ on Netflix and I can hardly believe that such a scenario actually occurred in real life?!
Critics have also expressed their opinions about the documentary, The Daily Telegraph stating it as “primarily a quite sorrowful movie”. They further commented, “Upon learning its subject matter, it becomes the moldy cherry that makes an already damp and dismal cake even more depressing.
According to Decider, the documentary titled “Con Mum” has a similar structure to that of a ‘big con’ film. However, as Dionne’s extravagant promises lean precariously on immediate financial demands, you find yourself contemplating like Graham, who is both her accomplice and target in this scenario.
Meanwhile, Ready Steady Cut observed that Con Mum sticks too closely to Netflix’s typical scheme in documentary frauds, but the tale it presents is genuinely heartbreaking and hard not to be moved by.
