Stephen Mulhern Thrives at ITV While Holly Willoughby Faces Jobless Reality After 21 Years!

Stephen Mulhern has got a bright future with ITV, despite Dancing On Ice’s axing.

The star has re-signed with the television network, as he’s now booked solid for several upcoming ITV programs.

Stephen maintains strong relationships with the network, a stark difference from his Dancing on Ice partner, Holly Willoughby, who for the first time in 21 years, finds herself without an ITV prime-time show.

It has been disclosed about Stephen’s ITV tenure that his 2025 lineup is already confirmed, as Celebrity Catchphrase and Deal or No Deal remain popular choices.

According to The Sun, he plans to debut a fresh travel show titled “Accidental Tourist” later in the year, and he’s optimistic about a potential second season of the rebooted “You Bet!” series as well.

After only one series, Holly has decided to leave You Bet!, leaving the producers searching for someone to step into Stephen’s role as his new co-host.

According to reports from ITV, Holly (the person being referred to) had other obligations that kept her occupied following her venture into hosting Celebrity Bear Hunt, which marked her initial major assignment outside of ITV.

According to a source, the audience’s strong desire for “You Bet” led ITV executives to schedule a complete season of the show.

‘Holly and Stephen are a great double act and they were both brilliant so they were asked back.

‘But Holly politely declined, she has other commitments and couldn’t make it work.’

A representative from ITV stated: ‘Regrettably, Holly was unable to confirm her availability for the hosting dates of the upcoming season of You Bet! However, we hope she’ll make an appearance as a guest panelist on one of the shows within that series.’

For quite some time, Holly was widely recognized as ITV’s beloved golden star, establishing herself as the preferred choice among fans for their leading programs such as “This Morning” and “Dancing on Ice”.

Yet, it seems that the presenter is venturing into uncharted territories with her television career since she no longer has an ITV show due to the cancellation of Dancing On Ice.

For the first time in over two decades, I find myself staring at an empty slot on my schedule where a Holly show used to be – it’s a strange feeling, knowing that ITV’s beloved television sweetheart isn’t gracing our screens anymore.

For quite some time, she is well-known across ITV and ITV2, appearing as a host in programs such as Surprise Surprise, Celebrity Juice, The Games, The X Factor Extra, and I’m a Celebrity.

Holly is primarily recognized for co-hosting This Morning with Phillip Schofield from 2009 to 2023, and additionally serving as the host of Dancing on Ice since 2006.

Consequently, ITV fans will miss out on seeing Holly, as no official announcement about her involvement in future projects with the channel has been made yet.

TopMob has contacted ITV and Holly’s representatives for comment.

However, it appears that Holly might be anticipating a thrilling new chapter with Netflix, given her reportedly impressive performance while hosting the fresh reality TV show, Celebrity Bear Hunt.

It has been disclosed that Netflix is extremely interested in collaborating further with her on projects, potentially making these productions available globally following her appearance on Bear Grylls’ program.

According to a source, they mentioned to The Mail that she’s currently sought after. Now that her commitment to ‘This Morning’ is reduced (she’s no longer there four days a week), she can explore a wider range of opportunities, some even on a global scale.

As a devoted admirer, I found the Celebrity Bear Hunt an exhilarating experience – my initial project with Netflix, and I must admit, it was nothing short of delightful. The team’s response to me was heartwarming, and I can sense that there might be many more exciting collaborations in our future.

‘The world is now Holly’s oyster, there are so many opportunities for her.’

In the past, Holly has collaborated with significant British television networks. Notably, she teamed up with Wim Hof and Lee Mack to co-host “Freeze The Fear” on the BBC in 2022.

Holly’s professional upheaval follows the announcement that Dancing on Ice will not continue, as there are currently no plans to air a new series in 2026.

After the 2025 finale, there were whispers that the skating exhibition might be canceled, as team members allegedly claimed they had been informed that their duties for the show had concluded.

According to information provided to TopMob, an ITV representative stated that due to the success of a recent series, Dancing On Ice will take a break in 2026, with no immediate plans for a new season at this time.

It’s a pleasure to express our gratitude to everyone in the cast and crew who have been part of the show since 2006, across the 17 series. Your dedication, whether it was on or off the ice, has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your tireless efforts!

For more than a decade since its debut in 2006, around 200 celebrities have taken part in Dancing On Ice, with about 100 adaptations of the iconic Bolero costume being crafted for stars dancing to Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s renowned skate routine.

2025’s Dancing on Ice finale sadly marked a historic low for me, as the show drew its smallest audience ever. I can hardly believe it – my heart still aches from this shocking turn of events.

2025’s competition saw record-low ratings following Sam Aston, a famous actor from Coronation Street, being declared its champion.

Despite an exciting finale, the program attracted only 2.7 million viewers – a significant drop from its high point of over 12 million.

After the announcement that the show wouldn’t be coming back, and with staff being informed that their employment had ended, viewership numbers significantly dropped.

In 2006, the program first aired on ITV. The first season winner was Gaynor Faye, a previous actress from Coronation Street who portrayed Judy Mallett during the ’90s.

The format was initially introduced in 2014, but it didn’t reappear on screens until four years later. Since then, it has been broadcast during the early months of each year.

Previously, Holly used to co-host the program alongside her former colleague from This Morning, Philip. However, Stephen subsequently became her new co-host on the show.
