At the 2025 PaleyFestLA for The Handmaid’s Tale, Elisabeth Moss announced the birth of her first child during a red carpet interview, expressing her joy and excitement about motherhood.

42-year-old Emmy award winner openly shared that she often takes her child along with her on the filming location, expressing deep gratitude for this privilege, as she disclosed to People.

The star emphasized that ‘many parents are unable to, so we often express this sentiment. Any of us who have been fortunate enough to raise children or witness them at work, we would consistently exclaim, “How fortunate we are to be able to experience this!”‘

One day following her appearance at a Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview in Los Angeles, her infrequent remarks about motherhood surfaced.

Before her revelation, there wasn’t any information about when she delivered her baby – however, Elizabeth revealed during a chat show in January 2024 that she was indeed expecting.

She had a full baby bump at the time as she chatted about one of her latest projects with Kimmel.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Elisabeth’s representatives for comment but has yet to hear back. 

In her recent outing, Elizabeth was stunningly elegant, sporting a sophisticated black blazer atop a revealing mini dress of the same hue.

She strutted along the lane situated at the back of the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, which serves as the filming location for Kimmel, while donning towering hot pink shoes and flaunting her cascading, gently curled shoulder-length blonde tresses.

Her appearance wasn’t just casual chit-chat, oh no. She was there to share some tantalizing tidbits about the upcoming season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale – a series I’ve been captivated by since its debut in 2017. Simply put, I can’t wait!

It was disclosed that an individual involved with the production requested permission to retain Offred’s undergarments following the completion of filming.

Elizabeth mentioned, “Among the things I desired from the collection was Offred’s unique undergarment that I had once worn. I was informed that someone else has already inquired about it.

Kimmel was astounded to discover that one of the office personnel had managed to steal the custom-made undergarments.

In another part of the conversation, Elizabeth shared some details about her personal life when she mentioned that she has been immersing herself deeply in the game show Jeopardy.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that I dove headfirst into the world of Jeopardy! right from the start and continued my obsession unabated for a remarkable four months.

Elizabeth mentioned that she watched the program alone, dozing off, and vocalized her responses out loud.

In Tuesday’s interview, neither Elizabeth nor Kimmel discussed the topic of her recent childbirth.

Instead, Elisabeth eagerly shared her pregnancy news with Kimmel during her appearance on his show back in January.

The situation became clearer following several weeks of rumors, as she was spotted on the set of a fresh endeavor sporting what appeared to be a pregnancy belly.

In the interview set for January 2024, the host, Kimmel, swiftly moved to the main topic by asking, “Are you actually pregnant, or are you demonstrating exceptional acting dedication?

Elisabeth responded: ‘A little bit of both.’

She opened up about her pregnancy journey as Jimmy asked her how she has been feeling.

The actress said: ‘Not bad, actually. I’ve been really lucky. It’s been going really well.’

Due to Elizabeth’s privacy concerning her personal matters, we are unaware of the identity of the child’s father and the expected delivery date remains undisclosed at this time.

The actress inquired from the talk show host whether he had any tips for her regarding parenthood, since Jimmy mentioned that the most valuable advice his spouse Molly McNearney received prior to the arrival of one of their kids was given by comedy icon Bill Murray.

The chat show host explained: ‘He said bring Christmas lights to hang up [in the delivery room].

Since the lighting in the room is quite poor, we wouldn’t want it to resemble the kind of lighting found in a Walmart store for such an important occasion.

Elisabeth found the suggestions appealing, as she expressed: “That seems like an excellent set of ideas, I’m quite fond of it.

In that very month, I sparked speculations about potential motherhood during the filming of my latest thriller, Shell, in Los Angeles. It seemed quite apparent, as I moved about the set, that there was a small addition to my usual self – a noticeable baby bump – all while wrapped comfortably in a large pink bathrobe and cozy slippers.

In 2022, Moss told Daily Mail’s YOU that she wants children and that her mom, Linda, inspired her.

She deeply desires to have children, as she has been profoundly influenced by the loving and nurturing way her own mother raised her. She considers her mother’s efforts with her as truly remarkable.

Moss then joked that, once her own child is born, she’ll pass them off to her mom.

‘And then I’ll give the child to my mum and she can raise it because she’d do it very well!’

She shared with the publication, “I wasn’t sure it would suit everyone, or even me, but now, I believe it does for me.

‘I have no idea how I want to do it though or what the plan is.’

Moss tends to keep her romantic affairs under wraps, having made only two of them known to the public throughout her history.

She was previously married to comedian Fred Armisen, 57, which she told Vulture was a ‘traumatic’ and ‘horrible’ experience.

 

In 2008, she crossed paths with the actor from Saturday Night Live when her fellow Mad Men cast member, Jon Hamm, was hosting that comedy program.

Back then, Moss was 26 years old while Armisen was 42. They got married in October 2009, but they parted ways just eight months into their union.

In September 2010, Moss formally initiated the divorce process, stating irreconcilable differences as the reason. The legal separation was completed in May 2011.

She said she’s relieved she never started a family with Armisen.

The LA native expressed relief, saying he was thankful he wasn’t present, grateful it didn’t occur while he was fifty, and happy he didn’t have children in that situation.

‘And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that’s probably not going to happen again.’

In 2012, Moss began a relationship with Australian cinematographer Adam Arkapaw, whom she met while working together on the New Zealand production of the miniseries Top of the Lake.

The relationship was confirmed by DailyMail.com at the time.

Moss and Arkapaw dated for three years before splitting in 2015.

For quite some time now, I’ve been seen on various outings with an assortment of gentlemen, yet the media hasn’t caught wind of any official, significant relationship for me.

In the year 2020, it became necessary for her to dispel a scandalous gossip that linked her with Tom Cruise, another Scientologist, as secret fiancées, following an accusation made by a tabloid.

In an interview with Marie Claire, I shared that carving out time for dating can be quite challenging given my demanding work commitments.

She also revealed that she hasn’t written off the possibility of getting married again.

Moss expressed that while he’s open to remarriage, he places a greater emphasis on the quality of the relationship itself.

For nearly eight years now, I’ve been living my life apart from Armisen. Time has made me grow older and, hopefully, more discerning. As a hopeless romantic, I find weddings enchanting, yet I don’t believe they are essential for nurturing a resilient, thriving relationship.

In my experience, the relationships that have stood the test of time are often those that chose not to tie the knot.
