Roy Keane’s Rare Emotional Moment With Daughter After Her Life-Changing Lupus Diagnosis
Roy Keane has shared a peek at his more tender nature in a seldom conducted joint conversation with his daughter Caragh, confessing that he continues to feel a longing for her when she’s not around.
On the Stick To Football podcast, provided by Sky Bet, the duo made an appearance, and Caragh shared insights into her personal life alongside her well-known dad.
More recently, Caragh has disclosed that she’s been diagnosed with lupus. She attributes her father for assisting her in accepting this health condition.
Although Roy is generally perceived as serious, Caragh acknowledged his humorous side and shared his heartwarming reaction to her proposal of starting a business together.
Reflecting on his family, Roy said: ‘I miss them when they’re away.’
The Manchester City legend has five children with his wife Theresa Doyle, who he married in 1997.
Caragh noted: ‘He’s incredibly supportive, yet he cherishes his regularity. Any deviation from it, and we quickly notice!’

‘No but he is great. You have your funny moments, don’t you. It’s so good,’ Caragh continued.
Later on, Roy reminisced about the time when Caragh proposed they venture into business together, leading them to establish the brand, SUPERKEEN, offering a variety of cereals that are both anti-inflammatory and beneficial for digestion. This move was prompted by her lupus diagnosis.
He said: ‘When you started you asked me to support you, I said ”Yeah go for it girl”.
‘Then we set up a business meeting… ”Can I have some money daddy?” That was the business meeting!
“When you asked if you could have it, I agreed, take as much as you require. Frankly, it’s greater than I anticipated for starting a business; the effort has definitely been challenging.
Four years past, at the tender age of 25, Carah received a diagnosis for Lupus – an autoimmune condition known for triggering joint pain, skin irritations, and excessive fatigue.
This past week, I was thrilled to learn that I’d secured my initial teaching position. However, unexpectedly falling ill left me incapacitated, forcing me to decline this wonderful opportunity.
Following a sequence of examinations, Caragh received a diagnosis of lupus, which she found challenging to accept as she contemplated the potential modifications her life might undergo.
In conversation with the Irish Independent, Caragh confided that there was an initial phase of sadness, yet she soon found her father encouraging her to adopt a more optimistic outlook once more.
She mentioned that her father has a knack for providing a clear, balanced view on situations and often injects humor to make things less tense.
Keane was recognized for his fiery personality, never backing down on the soccer field while guiding United during their most triumphant era under Sir Alex Ferguson, a time marked by the team’s greatest successes in their history.
After retiring, he has revealed a different aspect of his character through his commentary work and participating in the Stick to Football podcast.
Caragh disclosed that he’s just as genuine off-camera, with his humor emerging prominently to lift her spirits during tough times.
Speaking from the heart as his devoted daughter, I must admit that many have described him as an enigma. Yet, to me, he’s far more than a mystery – he’s one of the most hilarious individuals you’ll ever encounter! His wit and humor are simply unparalleled.
He’s quite an exceptional person. I feel truly fortunate to have him in my life, and he’s always a pleasure to talk to. My father is an excellent source of valuable advice.
Given his Irish heritage, he’s often known for having a laid-back attitude, expressing sentiments like “let go of things” or “you’re on the right track,” and implying there’s someone watching over you. These words have proven particularly comforting during my toughest times.
Caragh is one of Keane’s five children, and she has refused to let her diagnosis hold her back.
Ever since discovering her health issue, Caragh has become more mindful about the kinds of food she consumes.
