Adolescence‘s director has detailed Brad Pitt’s “hands on” role in the Netflix series.
Surprisingly, many spectators of the popular crime drama noticed the well-known movie star’s name credited as one of the show’s executives during the end credits.
In addition to being one of the production studios for the series, Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B Entertainment, also had a significant influence off-camera, as director Philip Barantini revealed.
As I shared our unique concept during our meeting with Plan B, it was just Stephen and myself who had been eagerly awaiting this opportunity to discuss it, I must say the wait made the idea seem even more peculiar. (This was revealed on The Rest is Entertainment podcast)
They said, “‘We’re merely keeping a watch for Brad and his plans.’ To which I replied, ‘Ah, it can’t be Brad Pitt we’re referring to. There must be another Brad within the organization.’
Without a doubt, Brad participated in the Zoom meeting and was enthusiastic about the concept. Furthermore, we held multiple additional meetings where we presented the idea to Brad via Zoom too.
Barantini described the star as a “wonderful individual” and disclosed that he was an “active, involved producer.
He explained further, “He provides comments and materials, among other things.” It’s fantastic having him as part of the team, and I look forward to collaborating with him once more. Perhaps we can arrange for him to join us on another project.
Additionally, it was disclosed that Pitt was present in the city while the shooting was taking place, and he had planned to join the set. However, he was occupied with the filming of his latest project, titled F1.
The narrative unfolds around a 13-year-old boy, who stands accused of the murder of a fellow classmate, garnering significant praise from critics since it was first released in March.
Not only does the four-part series generate extensive conversations about its topics, but it has also gained immense popularity, setting a new record as the most-viewed UK title on Netflix to date.
