ITV’s beloved returning British crime drama Grace has confirmed a release date for season 5.
Enthusiasts of the detective drama won’t have much longer to anticipate, as ITV has revealed that the fifth season will air starting from April 6, at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX (as reported by Radio Times)).
Drawing inspiration from Peter James’s Roy Grace book series, the forthcoming show will consist of four extended episodes. The initial installment of season 5 will be a screen adaptation of the 14th novel, titled “Dead If You Don’t.
The plot of episode 1 unfolds with the team being summoned to scrutinize a corpse found in a barrel on Sussex’s shoreline, while at the same time, Roy is caught up in a desperate struggle to safeguard hundreds of lives inside a football stadium in Brighton, following an anonymous threat.

As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I find myself immersed in the captivating world of “Roy Grace,” starring John Simm in the titular role. This gripping series follows my character, DS Roy Grace, on his relentless quest to uncover the whereabouts of my missing wife, Sandy. The heart-stopping Season 4 finale saw me discovering Sandy, but the cruel twist was that she had taken her own life shortly after our reunion.
As a devoted fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the commencement of Season 5 of our beloved Brighton-based series. The storyline looks set to delve deeply into the lives of Roy and his latest partner, Cleo Morey, portrayed brilliantly by Zoë Tapper. This season seems to start on a poignant note as Cleo has tragically lost her baby. I can’t wait to see how these two characters navigate through this difficult time together.
In a recent conversation with Radio Times, Simm shared: “Upon encountering Cleo and Roy, it’s clear that they’ve experienced the tragic loss of a child, an event that transpired between seasons. The situation becomes apparent rather swiftly.

Tapper remarked: “It’s clear from the start that she has suffered a miscarriage, which becomes the initial impression we form about her and them – facing an incredibly heartbreaking loss together.
In these scenes, it was deeply emotional and captivating to capture. This is particularly intriguing because Cleo’s work seems to be an essential part of her identity. At the start of this series, she’s taking time off for bereavement, while Roy has to return to work. As a result, they’re distanced not only in location but also in their shared grief.
Grace will return on ITV on Sunday, April 6, at 8pm.
