Jessie Ware says she is ‘reclaiming my sexual identity’ during her ‘frenzied’ forties as she reveals how mums at the school gates reacted to THAT music video with James Norton

Jessie Ware says she‘s rediscovering and embracing her sexuality as she enters her forties, and she’s shared how other parents at her children’s school reacted to her steamy music video featuring James Norton.

The 41-year-old singer, who married Sam Burrows in 2014, has been talking about how her life is changing now that her three children are grown enough to be in school.

She shared that they’re now enjoying more meaningful time together, and she’s finally able to prioritize her own well-being and desires.

The actress recently shared with The Times that as her children grow up, life changes. She explained that with no more sleepless nights or diaper changes, and as the kids become more independent, the dynamic between her and her partner shifts from focusing on childcare tasks like feeding the baby.

It’s about rediscovering your sexuality – what you need and want. It also means reconnecting with how you see your body, recognizing it as both a source of experience and a powerful part of yourself.

Your forties are a uniquely interesting stage of life. You’re becoming aware of your own mortality, but that can actually motivate you to really embrace life and enjoy every moment. It’s a busy and energetic period, full of wanting to experience everything you can.

She also shared how other mothers at her child’s school reacted to her new music video featuring actor James.

Last month, the singer released a provocative music video for her new song, ‘Ride,’ featuring James as her romantic interest, playing the role of a ‘sexy cowboy.’

The video shows explicit scenes of Jessie taking the lead over James, 40, while both are dressed in cowboy outfits.

The singer referenced the movie Fifty Shades of Grey during her performance, playfully putting her fingers in the actor’s mouth and briefly blindfolding him with a rope.

She recently shared that people have been thanking her at the school gates for making the video, explaining that it’s started important discussions.

This song has a disco feel and uses a sample from the famous theme music of the 1966 film, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, written by Ennio Morricone.

Jessie shared how she convinced the actor from House of Guinness to play the part of the handsome cowboy. She explained she’d first suggested the idea to him while they were both at a friend’s performance.

I remember talking to James after we’d both been to see our friend Jack Peñate perform – I actually suggested Jack invite James along! I asked him if he’d ever ridden a horse, and then, on a bit of a whim, if he’d be interested in playing a kind of ‘sexy cowboy’ in the video I was making. It seemed like a fun idea at the time!

‘I sent him the song, he loved it, and I’m so grateful that he made this happen,’ she went on.

She explained that she hadn’t expected to participate as much in the video, but James was such a kind and professional collaborator that he made it effortless.

Let me tell you, filming was quite an experience! I remember one February morning, it was absolutely freezing, and by 10 am, I found myself giving Caravan the horse a little ear scratch – he was a sweetheart! We shot the whole thing on film, which I really think gives it a gorgeous, timeless quality. Huge thanks to our amazing director, Thomas, and of course, to Caravan himself for being such a star!

James said he couldn’t resist the chance to be in the video, and he had a really good time doing it.

He explained that when Jessie asked him to be in her music video, he happily agreed because he couldn’t think of any reason to refuse.

“Ride” is a fantastic song, and as someone who’s enjoyed Jessie’s music for years – and now considers her a friend – I was excited to be involved. Jessie, Thomas, and everyone else on the project made the whole experience really enjoyable.

The music video allowed James to playfully recreate scenes reminiscent of Fifty Shades, a nod to the fact that he hadn’t been cast as Christian Grey in the films.

Jamie Dornan, an Irish actor, became famous after playing the leading role of the wealthy, dominant character in the popular movie named after him.
