The BBC has shared a first look at its upcoming drama The Bombing of Pan Am 103.
The six-part series, originally known as “Lockerbie,” will now chronicle the heart-wrenching real-life occurrences of the 1988 Lockerbie airplane bombing. This incident involved an explosion on a flight from London to New York, which tragically occurred over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, claiming the lives of 223 individuals, including 213 passengers – among them 43 British citizens and 190 Americans.
The show will focus on the collaborative probe by two countries regarding the bombing incident, starting with a thorough hunt for clues on Scottish soil, proceeding through the US and Malta, culminating at Camp Zeist’s 2000 trial, and finally leading to the upcoming retrial in America.

The BBC recently unveiled some preliminary images from the upcoming series, showcasing Connor Swindells from Sex Education in his role as DS Ed McCusker, along with Patrick J Adams portraying FBI Special Agent Dick Marquise, Tony Curran as DCI Harry Bell, and Peter Mullan as DCS John Orr.
Additionally, the images show Merritt Wever portraying Kathryn Turman, an assistant director in the FBI’s Victim Services Division; Eddie Marsan taking on the role of FBI Special Agent Tom Thurman; Phyllis Logan as Moira Shearer, a Scottish dancer and actress; Molly Geddes as WP Lauren Aitken; and Cora Bissett as Elma Pringle.
Completing the ensemble of actors is Douglas Hodge, Nicholas Gleaves, Lauren Lyle, Andrew Rothney, Kevin McKidd, Parker Sawyers, James Harkness, Khalid Laith, and Amanda Drew.

The Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 occurs following the broadcast of Sky’s “Lockerbie: An Inquest into Truth” in January, with both portrayals recounting the devastating incident.
The show features Colin Firth portraying Jim Swire, a dad who spends three decades seeking truth following the explosion that claimed the life of his daughter, Flora.
He stars alongside Slow Horses’ Catherine McCormack, who plays Jim’s wife Jane Swire.
The Bombing of Pan Am 103 will air on BBC One and iPlayer, before heading to Netflix globally.
