Dior Brings “Designer of Dreams” Retrospective to Seoul

Despite uncertain announcements about a new creative director, Dior’s installations and activations are progressing. In April, Dior will present a comprehensive retrospective in Seoul, titled “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams.” This exhibition originally premiered in Paris in 2017 to commemorate the brand’s 70th anniversary and has since been displayed worldwide. The show highlights various aspects of Christian Dior, offering a deep dive into his extensive history and the renowned Lady Dior handbag.

The upcoming April retrospective, held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a structure conceived by the late, acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid, will showcase numerous fresh installations. This exhibition, orchestrated by Florence Müller, will house creations from Korean artists such as Zadie Xa, Kim HyunJoo, and Soo Sunny Park in its galleries. Additionally, Shohei Shigematsu, a collaborator at OMA agency, has designed spaces encompassing the residence’s fragrances endorsed by celebrities, including Natalie Portman and Rihanna.

Previously, Dior has made a presence in Seoul, not for the first time. Back in late 2023, the brand initiated Seoul Frieze with its renowned “Lady Dior Celebration,” which showcased artwork from 24 artists within its concept store in Seongsu-dong. For this upcoming event, Dior will reaffirm its collaboration with Ewha Womans University – a women’s university – and serve as the setting for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s pre-fall 2022 runway show.

The exhibition titled “Christian Dior: Creator of Fantasies” is set to open on April 19 and close on July 13. During this time, you might want to explore articles about their most recent fashion show.
