MAFS’ Jamie Breaks Silence on Controversial Date Task: ‘Now They Have a Reason to Hate Me!’

She’s been one of the most outspoken and unfiltered brides on Married At First Sight this season.

Now, Jamie Marinos clarifies the details behind the last task related to the date, which caused quite a stir during the experiment.

In conversation with Daily Mail Australia, the 28-year-old marketing manager candidly shared insights into the time she accepted a date with a prospective suitor who failed to show up, detailing its influence on her tumultuous relationship with Dave Hand.

‘Let’s be clear, it wasn’t a date,’ Jamie insisted, laughing.

If I repeated the phrase “meet-up” a million times, it was to ensure you understood I had no intentions of being dishonest. In fact, I took care to make sure the women were appropriately dressed and wore Vans shoes – I’m fundamentally traditional in my nature!

With her iconic black Vans on feet and a stylish yet laid-back attire, Jamie mentioned that she approached the undertaking out of curiosity instead of any romantic motives.

She candidly shared that she and Dave are relaxed individuals, having mutual friendships across genders. In her professional life, she works in an environment predominantly filled with males, a nightclub setting. Since their honeymoon, they have been honest about these aspects of their lives.

But she admitted the timing of the challenge couldn’t have been worse.

She commented that she was still thinking deeply about their unexpected change in relationship with Dave, which had happened several weeks prior.

Despite the audience having already departed, I remained stuck in the anguish and the sting of rejection from that transition. Instead of being able to return home and mend, I was compelled to continue pushing onward.

Jamie confessed the controversial ‘date’ was more about gaining clarity than seeking romance.

‘I was nosy,’ she admitted with a grin.

For Carina, the date felt like a betrayal. On the other hand, for Dave and me, it didn’t. At that point in our relationship, we were clinging to life and seeking clarification.

I became significantly more hopeful as he arrived, clearly putting effort into his presence. With our shared history in mind, it seemed fitting to continue persevering and invest our energy further.

To be completely honest, I couldn’t have imagined what participating in MAFS would truly entail. The whirlwind of criticism, the overwhelming surge of affection, and the sheer madness – it’s been a rollercoaster ride like none other!

However, the heartwarming messages I received from people I don’t know truly made it all worthwhile. To be truthful, the benefits have far surpassed the drawbacks.

She added with a cheeky grin, ‘Loose lips sink ships, so I’ll stop there — but stay tuned.’
