Tekken Producer Left Namco for a Year After Tekken 4 Reception
In an interview, Tekken series creator Katsuhiro Harada disclosed that he took a one-year break from Namco following the release of Tekken 4 due to criticisms directed towards the game.
In simpler terms, Tekken 4 marked the debut of the main series on PlayStation 2, but its release was met with varied responses. Recently, Harada shared insights about the game’s launch on Twitter.
I’ve heard similar compliments, but let me tell you, in those days, I faced an overwhelming amount of criticism. No one stood by my side. It was just me against all odds. This tale of adversity is quite familiar within our organization.
In the midst of an overwhelmingly stressful period, I found myself grappling with a baffling situation – a peculiar hair loss issue confined exclusively to the right side of my body. To my astonishment, this affected not just my head but also my arms, eyebrows, and even eyelashes.
Today, the naysayers seem to have moved on, leaving only admirers to sing the praises of this game. It’s as if its greatness has become self-evident, but for me, it serves as an enduring inspiration and lesson. Regardless of whether it’s a masterpiece or not,
This new discovery is quite astounding, demonstrating how opinions and consensus can shift significantly over the years. Now, the series seems to be thriving more than ever before. The latest installment, Tekken 8, has been exceptionally well-received. For your reading pleasure, here’s our take on it in our review.
It’s true that I’ve heard about such praise, but in the past, I was overwhelmed with criticism instead. There wasn’t anyone who supported me. Zero allies, as they say. That tale is quite familiar within our company. At that point, I was under so much stress that I started experiencing a strange condition where all my symptoms were unexplained.
