The upcoming event “Design.Space” by the design platform Basic.Space, which will take place in Los Angeles towards the end of this month, will offer a mix of vintage and contemporary designs from esteemed design legends and promising modern creators.
Design. Space is happening at the Pacific Design Center on March 29th and 30th. This event prides itself as a bridge between the comfort of a department store and the refined culture of an art and design exhibition. The exhibits are carefully selected for modern design enthusiasts, featuring renowned artists like Max Lamb and Sabine Marcelis displaying their works.

Spread out across the expanse, you’ll find grand structures joined with arrays of smaller items. Exclusive pieces are also promised, including a unique gas station designed by Jean Prouvé in 1969.
According to the press release, this gas station was initially created by Jean Prouvé for Total Oil Company, serving as the epitome of his talent in seamlessly blending design, innovation, and structural practicality. This gas station continues to stand as a significant landmark in the annals of industrial and modular architecture history.
Notable features will also encompass fifty vibrant, red armchairs designed by Max Lamb; as well as The Enorme Telephone, a collaborative work between Ettore Sottsass and David Kelley.

As a dedicated admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about two fascinating design developments. Firstly, a captivating chair, masterfully crafted by Sabine Marcelis in Rotterdam, is set to grace the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, arriving in a unique hue named “Lavender Frost”. Secondly, designs by Willo Perron, previously unavailable in the US, will now be making their debut through Stockholm’s NO GA label. These developments are truly a delight for design enthusiasts like myself!
In another location, a unique sofa – a product of collaboration between Paulin Paulin Paulin, Parley for the Oceans, and Christo and Jeanne-Claude – will be manufactured as part of an exclusive series consisting of eight units.
