25 years later, Final Destination director reveals hidden detail you definitely missed
Director James Wong of the movie “Final Destination” has disclosed a secretive detail that has gone undetected for a quarter-century; a detail that he acknowledges may have been too cleverly disguised.
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Wong elaborated on how, following protagonist Alex Browning’s initial dream about doomed Flight 180, he aimed to create a visually distinct portrayal of events that ensued.
He expressed to the media outlet that his aim was to make it happen in a tangible way, putting in considerable work, but he feels that the results don’t seem as evident on-screen.

He mentioned, “There’s a world before the premonition and there’s a world after, where life has been reshaped for Alex.” In our filmmaking process, we constructed two distinct versions of the sets that reappear, such as his room and certain locations we explore.
The sizes of the sets varied. The concept was thrilling to me, but I feel my execution wasn’t as strong. I could have been more direct. If given the chance to do it over, I might emphasize that difference more clearly.
Additionally, Wong mused about the late, remarkable Tony Todd, who portrayed William Bludworth in the Final Destination series. Wong commented: “It’s rare to encounter an actor who manages to enhance and simultaneously define your vision of a character, and Tony accomplished just that.
His actions, words, tone, and overall demeanor all seemed to embody the essence of the character.
Simultaneously, when he performed it on set, I exclaimed, “Wow, he’s quite unsettling!” And that’s precisely the kind of impression you want. Though his part was brief, especially in the initial film, it was incredibly impactful. He was excellent.
In a couple of months, we’ll be seeing the sixth installment of the “Final Destination” movie series, which happens to be the longest one so far.
Final Destination 1-3 and 5 are available to stream for Netflix subscribers in the UK.
